Cauldron GEMINI is a Cauldron in Horizon Forbidden West.

Description[]

During construction, GEMINI was damaged by earthquakes occurring in the Burning Shores[1] with the first data core already been built. GAIA had her machines start over, building a second data core, but when more earthquakes occurred, she abandoned the facility, leaving GEMINI incomplete and inactive, albeit functional.[2]

New World[]

The area around GEMINI was claimed by the Desert Tenakth, who took note of GEMINI being a dead Cauldron, marking the area as the Gate of the Vanquished, representing their strength against the machines.

In order to capture HEPHAESTUS, Aloy, Varl, Beta and GAIA travelled to GEMINI to trap HEPHAESTUS within. While they were successful in containing it and beginning the merge with GAIA, Gerard, Erik and Tilda found them and broke into the Cauldron, killing Varl and capturing Beta, GAIA and HEPHAESTUS, while Aloy was saved by Tilda.[3]

Upon losing contact with everyone, Erend, Zo, Kotallo and Alva went to GEMINI, recovered Varl's body, with Zo leaving flowers in his memory, and returned to the Base to determine their next move.[4]

Trivia[]

  • Unlike all machine Cauldrons, which are named after Greek letters, Cauldron GEMINI's name is derived from the Latin word for twins "gemini", alluding to the two cores of the said facility.
