Elysia was the second Flame-Chaser, and the very creator of the group. She was a member of the MOTHs and a very present figure in the Previous Era, helping humanity to fight Herrschers and the Honkai until the bitter end. In the Current Era, Elysia's simulation is responsible for managing the Elysian Realm in the headquarters of World Serpent, guiding most of the successors sent by the organization in their quest to find the truth about the Previous Era.
Appearance[ | ]
Elysia has long pink hair tied in a low ponytail, and wears a black, purple and white outfit that's described as "very pretty". According to herself, she's unable to gain or lose weight and wears no makeup, only doing as such in very special occasions. In a book written by Elysia herself, she calls herself "A Girl As Gorgeous As Dancing Petals" in the very own title of the book, wielding "a bow that shares her elegance and beauty." She also has pointy elf ears.
In her Herrscher of Human form, Elysia has a different outfit. Her clothes are now mostly white, and her pink hair grows longer, going past her legs. She also has two heart-shaped staves carrying her hair and a veil on the side of her head.
Personality[ | ]
Elysia is very friendly towards everyone. She describes herself as only spending time and effort on the people she likes and the things she finds interesting, but that matters little, since she finds everything and everyone interesting anyway. She's very honest about her feelings and cares a lot about humanity, being the most precious thing to her. "Treat everyone sincerely, face everything with passion, follow your heart, never forget your roots" - these are the things Elysia lives by.
History[ | ]
Early Life[ | ]
Elysia was born "out of nothing", being the first Herrscher of the Previous Era, living as a kid in where the country of Russia is located in the Current Era. She grew with a fierce love and desire to help humanity, which led her to become a part of the MOTHs - the organization responsible for combating the Honkai and Herrschers. During the Previous Era, Elysia was the only Herrscher to have a desire to help humanity, while all the others had a desire for destruction. For this reason, she concealed her identity, not revealing to anyone she was, in fact, a Herrscher herself since birth.
As she lived in with the MOTHs, she met many people, like Dr. MEI and Kevin Kaslana, a couple who she became quick friends with and witnessed their whole transformation - Dr. MEI became the lead researcher against the Honkai inside the organization, and Kevin, who started in as very absent-minded and aloof, only joined the MOTHs out of his love for MEI but became a cold and distant Hero of Humanity, the biggest physical force against the Honkai. After the rise of the 7th Herrscher, she also met Eden, a famous opera singer, who would join the MOTHs and become her best friend.
Soldiers that were compatible and willing would pass through the MANTIS surgery, where they would be fused with a Honkai Beast and gain superhuman abilities - however, most times, it would also come with a price. Kevin, for example, was the first MANTIS to ever be created, but as a side-effect, his body temperature was lowered to sub-zero levels, making anyone be unable to be near him for extended periods of time. However, after the Tragedy of Binding, humanity suffered a great blow to their forces, and only thirteen MANTISes remained alive. With this in mind, Elysia decided to unite the remaining soldiers and make them a beacon of hope for humanity - thus, creating the Flame-Chasers group.
Flame-Chasers[ | ]
Elysia united the thirteen surviving MANTISes (herself, Kevin, Aponia, Eden, Vill-V, Kalpas, Su, Sakura, Kosma, Mobius, Griseo, Hua and Pardofelis) and made a pitch for the MOTHs for the creating of the Flame-Chasers group. The pitch was denied, however, saying that the group was composed of too many unstable and unpredictable people - "over half the members are not fit to be heroes." A counter-proposal was made, which would only accept five out of the thirteen as the Flame-Chasers group (Elysia, Kevin, Hua, Su and Vill-V), but Elysia rejected it on the basis that she would go with everyone or no one. As such, the Flame-Chasers proposal was ultimately rejected, and the group was never formally recognized by the MOTHs.
That didn't stop Elysia into making the actual group a reality. With the help of Eden and Mobius, they made the Golden Courtyard into the Elysian Realm, where the members would store their memories and feelings for all eternity as pieces of data. She made a rank for everyone in the group - at first, Elysia tried to make herself the leader and first ranked, but ultimately decided that would be a better position for Kevin, the Hero of Humanity, and made herself as the second-ranked in the end.
The Flame-Chasers didn't have much opportunities to work together, however, and ended up never fully doing so. As the next Herrscher rose, the Herrscher of Corruption, Sakura ended up being killed, and the last three cities in the planet were nuked by the rogue Herrscher, with the tower they were standing in being the last place with humans alive. Seeing as the morale of the whole group reached an all-time low, Elysia decided that the "leading actress should play the charming villain for a change". She organized a banquet, on which she revealed her identity as the 13th Herrscher to those present - the Herrscher of Origin, as well as the Herrscher of Human. Some of her friends, like Dr. MEI, Aponia, and Eden, had already known or were not surprised about the revelation. In her last moments, Elysia asked to those present if she managed to have, finally, become human, and not just a Herrscher - to which all responded that there was no doubt about that.
Elysia's sacrifice brought a fighting chance to the Current Era, in the end. Thanks to her death, the Herrschers of the Current Era had a chance to keep their sanity and not lose their minds to the Honkai - and so, the new Herrschers in this era could be able to fight for Humanity. That was the case for many people, like Welt Yang, Kiana Kaslana, Bronya Zaychik and Raiden Mei.
As a Simulation[ | ]
Elysian Realm[ | ]
Elysia's simulation was responsible for overseeing the Elysian Realm as a whole in the headquarters of World Serpent. She guided most of the successors that were sent there, serving as a helping hand for those trying to uncover the secrets of the Previous Era, most notably, Raiden Mei. She guided the Herrscher of Thunder, helping her navigate the Realm. At some point, in one of the trials, Elysia gave all her signets to Mei, subsequently challenging her herself, as a way to prepare Mei to face Mobius.
After this challenge, Mei started seeing alterations and glitches in the Realm, making it become unstable - after meeting Klein, the caretaker of the realm, she explained that was probably a natural reaction of the place, rejecting a Herrscher. When Mei eventually came to clash against Mobius, Elysia was responsible for returning Mei to the main hall in safety, making a bet with the scientist that she would come back without problems. As her desire for knowledge progressed, Elysia helped Mei to reach even further, aiding her in challenging the depths of the Deep End and the prophecy Aponia had made for Mei's death.
After ultimately defeating Aponia, the psychic MANTIS reveals to Mei it was all merely a test - even the battle between them had never happened. Aponia tells Mei that, with this, she's allowed to go beyond the Deep End, and understand the truth about the Previous Era, the Flame-Chasers and the 13th Herrscher. As Mei steps into the door, she arrives in Elysium Everlasting, a place made out of Elysia's memories, and finds Elysia at the entrance, sitting in a bench. The pink elf reintroduces herself: the second Flame-Chaser, Elysia of Ego, also known the 13th Herrscher.
To the Flawless[ | ]
In the story of To the Flawless, composed of Chapter XXIX, Chapter XXX and Chapter XXXI, Raiden Mei and the simulations are able to reach what's beyond the Deep End - a place called the Elysium Everlasting, made out of Elysia's memories. Mei and Elysia start training together, as the second Flame-Chaser guides her around the new place. The two of them share a number of heartfelt talks and moments, as Elysia explains more of her story and the origins of the Flame-Chasers. She introduces Mei to ELF Elysia, an ELF made out of her image, the guardian of a typewriter that can reveal anyone's memories by typing the right questions in it.
Elysia promises to Mei that, in the following morning, she'll reveal to her the entire truth about the 13th Herrscher. However, that never comes to pass. In that night, while in the room with the typewriter, she receives a visit from Sakura - in the next morning, Elysia is found "dead", her data completely deleted from the realm, and the typewriter found completely destroyed.
More Flame-Chasers begin to have their data deleted, and so a quest begins to find who might be behind the murders. Mei eventually finds out that Vill-V was behind some of the crimes, being responsible for the death of Kevin, Mobius and Pardofelis. However, a bigger force was at play, behind even Vill-V's actions: the Herrscher of Corruption, who was actually brought to the realm by Raiden Mei, and was deleting the simulations indiscriminately, killing the simulations of Elysia, Kalpas and Aponia. Mei comes to face the Herrscher, only to find that they'd been latched to her for a while in the past. While with Mei, the Herrscher of Corruption had grown to learn with the Flame-Chasers, admire them and want to be like them. As such, when Mei finds the Herrscher, she discovers they had taken a new form - a corrupted look of Elysia, who, while the Herrscher finds that as an inspiration, Mei finds that a mockery.
The remaining Flame-Chasers do a final stand against the Herrscher of Corruption, but ultimately fail in stopping them. The solution ends up being to bring Elysia back: for this, Mei would need to recreate her memories, remaking the lost data of the pink elf. She reunites her memories and the memories of ELF Elysia, but that ends up not being enough - that is, until Eden comes to finish it, giving not only her memories but herself as a whole, saying that, this way, she'll live inside Elysia forever: a gesture she describes being very romantic. Eden's sacrifice is the last push to bring Elysia back, this time, as the Herrscher of Human. She tells her origins and the story behind herself, the first ever Herrscher, and how her sacrifice allowed the Current Era to have Herrschers fighting for humanity, such as Mei herself. She urges Mei to leave the realm, saying that she'll be the last line of defense and will take care of the Corruption herself.
The final battle is seen in the Because of You animated short. Elysia faces the Herrscher of Corruption as her base self, but battle quickly goes against her favor: she loses an eye and an arm, seemingly unprepared to deal against the Corruption's attacks and ability to rewind the Realm's time. Elysia is, in the end, deleted once again. However, that doesn't last long, as Elysia herself manages to come back with a little push from Eden, bringing all her companions together. Together, the thirteen Flame-Chasers finally fight together for the first time, coming together to boost Elysia as she obtains once again her Herrscher of Human form, finally defeating the Herrscher of Corruption for good and destroying the whole Elysian Realm.
At the exit of the Realm, back in the real world at World Serpent, Mei finds the real Kevin, waiting for her. He tells her that he was ready to intervene in case Elysia didn't succeed, but felt like he wouldn't be needed. Mei points that he had faith in his companions, as he responds by saying they were her companions, as well. Kevin reveals that, in the end, the major reason why Mei was brought to World Serpent was so she could meet Elysia: a way for Kevin to show Elysia a Herrscher fighting for humanity, a way for Kevin to show Elysia that her sacrifice in the Previous Era was worth it.
