Push notifications are a great way to keep up with the activity on your blog(s). Find out when someone likes or reblogs one of your posts, as well as when someone starts following you, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
- Open Tumblr on your device.
- Tap the human icon.
- Tap the gear icon.
- Tap “Account settings.”
- Tap “Notifications.”
- From this screen, you can enable or disable various notification types, or tap “Fine-tune these notifications” for each of your blogs. If you only want to receive notifications from Tumblrs you follow, tap “Only people I follow.”
- Open a blog in the Tumblr app.
- Tap the human icon.
- Select “Get notifications.”
Note: For group blogs, you can only receive notifications if you’re an admin.
- Open the notes of the desired post.
- Tab the bell icon at the top-right.
If you’ve posted something popular and are receiving too many notifications about one particular post, you can mute just those notifications. There are a few ways to do this.
- Pull down on the notification to expand it.
- Tap on the “Mute” button.
- Tap the meatballs menu (●●●) in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tap “Mute notifications,” and then confirm your decision.
You can also unmute the notifications on this post by following the same steps and tapping “Unmute” instead.
- Tap the messaging bubble at the bottom of your dashboard.
- Navigate to the Activity tab, track down an activity item from the post in question, and then press and hold until you’re given the option to tap the “Mute” confirmation button.
Note that you’ll still always see every post activity line item on your dashboard and in the activity section, even if you turn off or mute push notifications.
- Open Tumblr on your device.
- Tap the human icon.
- Tap the gear icon.
- Tap “Account settings.”
- Tap “Notifications.”
- Switch the Notifications toggles from On to Off for each type of notification.
To hide Tumblr notifications in your device settings:
- Open Settings on your device.
- Tap “Apps.”
- Tap “Tumblr.”
- Tap “Notifications.”
- Uncheck the “Show Notifications” box.
