A slug is a gastropod similar to the snail, but without a shell.[1]
History[]
Towards the start of the 1992–1993 school year at Hogwarts, Ron Weasley began vomiting slugs after his attempt to curse Draco Malfoy backfired due to his broken wand.[2] Slugs were also found in the Hogwarts Dungeons in a room named the Slug Pit.[3]
At some point, likely during the 1993–1994 school year, a black slug crept on Severus Snape's glass jar, which contained a mole inside.[4]
At the end of the 1995–1996 school year, Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle were said to have resembled giant slugs after having been jinxed and hexed by several Dumbledore's Army members, after they tried to attack Harry Potter on the Hogwarts Express.[5]
