This underwater village was the home of the merpeople that lived in the lake at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The village was located at the centre of the lake, roughly a quarter of a mile from the castle.

Description

The village boundary was clearly marked by a rock with paintings of merpeople carrying spears and chasing the Giant Squid. The homes of the merpeople were built out of stone, and they were stained with algae. Some of the homes had gardens of weeds, and several had a pet Grindylow outside, tied to a stake driven into the ground.

A massive statue of a merperson was found at the centre of the village in a purpose built square.

History

During the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament on 24 February 1995, the village was used to hold the various hostages taken from the champions. Each hostage was tied to the giant statue in the centre of the village.
