The Hogwarts gamekeeper[1] (also known as the Keeper of the Grounds)[2] was the title and occupation held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry by an individual in charge of tending to and looking after the grounds of the school.
Duties[]
The Hogwarts gamekeeper had many duties, including:
- Tending to the gardens at Hogwarts.[3]
- Performing "special tasks" for the Headmaster and Professors at the school.[1]
- Looking after magical beasts on the school grounds.[4]
- Tending to matters in the Forbidden Forest.[5]
- Bringing the twelve Christmas trees into the Great Hall during December.[6]
- Defrosting the school brooms during winter.[7]
- Making the pumpkins for the Hallowe'en feast.[3][8]

- Ogg — 1943 or earlier until 1961 or later.[9]
- Rubeus Hagrid — 1984 or earlier[10] until 2008 or later.[11]

- When the office holder is also the Keeper of the Keys at the school, the composite title "Keeper of Keys and Grounds" would sometimes be used.[12]
