Eleanor Patricia Columbus is an American actress. The daughter of Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Harry Potter films, she had a cameo in both films as Susan Bones.
Trivia[]
- Eleanor made her film debut in the first two instalments of the Christmas film series, Home Alone, both directed by her father. Her first appearance was as a baby in the American Airlines first class cabin in the 1990 eponymous film, with her next appearance happening in the 1992 sequel, Lost in New York, where she appears as a girl and her father (played coincidentally by her real-life father Chris Columbus), pointing to a stack of toys in a toy shop.
- Her brother Brendan and sisters Violet and Isabella have also made cameo appearances in minor roles in the Harry Potter films.
- She is one of the only five American cast members in the first film: the others being Zoë Wanamaker, who played Madam Hooch, Julianne and Derek Hough, who play Hogwarts students, and the late Verne Troyer, who played Griphook.
- The Columbus siblings, Hough siblings, Wanamaker, and Troyer are the only American cast members of the series.
- J.K. Rowling permitted Chris Columbus to do a director's trademark in the films, which allowed Eleanor to be cast in the role as Susan Bones. This, however, was done on the condition that the Susan Bones role, while played by Eleanor, was a non-speaking part, as Rowling imposed a "strictly British and Irish cast" policy before the films were made.
- Emma-Jayne Corboz replaces her in the last two Harry Potter films.
