Bulbadox powder was a magical joke product that caused the victim's skin to break out in boils.[1]
History[]
Bilton Bilmes once poured a bit of Bulbadox powder in Horace Slughorn's mead. The consequences of this caused Slughorn to not let Rita Skeeter into the Slug Club, which infuriated Rita and caused her to hold a lifelong grudge against him, especially since Bilton was a member of the Slug Club.[2]
Coating a cauldron with Bulbadox powder before brewing the Cure for Boils potion could make the cauldron explode. In 1984, Merula Snyde coated Bulbadox Powder onto Jacob's sibling's cauldron during a Potions class, causing it to explode and also getting punished by Professor Snape. Snape took ten house points off of their house.[3]
During the 1987–1988 school year, Merula Snyde attempted to make her own Bulbadox powder, however her experiments backfired and she ended up hiding in the Hogwarts Library. She was found by Jacob's sibling, and the pair cured Merula's boils by brewing a Cure for Boils potion under the supervision of Professor Snape.[2]
Fred and George Weasley snuck some into Kenneth Towler's pyjamas during their O.W.L. year.[1]
