Berkshire East Ski Area, Commercial Wind Project

Berkshire East Solar was about leveraging unique partnerships. GreenSpark brokered a power purchase agreement between AllEarth Services, LLC and Berkshire East Ski Area. The project is owned by All Earth Services. It is built on the success of the PowerWind 900kW wind turbine commissioned in 2010, developed by GreenSpark. The project utilized cutting edge dual axis tracking technology. GreenSpark performed onsite shade analysis, created a detailed physical layout of the tracking units for optimal production that minimized its footprint and created a detailed string-wiring diagram to maximize system efficiency. GreenSpark conducted a thorough logistics plan for site clearing, storm water mitigation, equipment off-loading, component assembly, crew and sub-contractor scheduling and on-site safety plan with the goal of minimizing impacts to the site owner’s normal operations. GreenSpark coordinated with their licensed electrical sub-contractor, as required by Massachusetts law, to ensure design adherence and Code compliance. The installation was documented and submitted to all required inspections prior to commissioning.  A comprehensive commissioning phase included photo documentation, updates to built drawings, visual inspection, string level voltage and polarity testing and system wide Megger testing of conductors.
