Modern macOS versions do not support/allow switching to a different physical resolution than the native panel pixel resolution - only scaled resolutions are allowed. The app allows changing this by overriding the native resolution under Configuration Editing - however a more convenient way should be provided to list possible alternate native resolutions, to test a different resolutions and switch to a different native resolution.

This has some benefits in video industry and for average users might also unlock higher refresh rates that are not available for the native resolution due to bandwidth constraints.
