This could possibly replace pythreejs. Pyvista is very active and maintained. Only issue is that is requires installing vtk, but that seems to be easy now both with pip and conda.

vtk gets pulled in by pip when I was testing out pyvista. Here's an example of a generated requirements file.

It looks like they actually make wheels for vtk with the python bindings. That probably wasn't trivial.
