What I’m expecting in next Ulysses release

Some advises to Ulysses

Better article navigation

Current navigation

This is the title navigation in this article, it’s helpful, but the ‘#’ before the title text make me uncomfortable:

Better navigation

The better way I think is that the title should reflect the hierarchy of the article, may be like this, It’s more clear and less space:

draggedimage-1

Even better navigation

Or add number before title looks more better:

draggedimage-2

Fixed navigation

When the article is too long, I need to navigate multiple times, fix the navigation on one side may be better, and it can be shown in attachments or alone, like this:

More theme customization

Less limitation

In the markup setting, I can built my own theme, it’s awesome. But some item can’t be chosen, like add underline to link. Why other markup can while link can’t. It real make me upset. May be all limitations should be canceled.

More markup support

These markups are useful, should consider support them:

  • Task list items
  • Table
  • TOC( Table of contents)

Image resize

I know I can resize image by Image Previews lines setting. But it’s globle setting. I just wanna resize each one of them by dragging or manual setting.

Alignment

Image is aligned left bt default. But sometimes it doesn’t look good. Alow align left, center, right as wish in whole article, or even every image. At least, set here:

imagesetting

Web based image

I know I can preview web base image. But I wanna see it when writing. It’s helpful when I write something about the image.
Seeing is receiving.

Subjects

This is a new feature I’v thought about for a long time. It's not a group folder, more like article selection. It gathers some existed articles under one subject, this subject can be personal collected works whatever to publish or just print it to show on the table.

One subject can have multiple articles, and one article can be added to different subjects. Articles are sorted manually in subject, and just look like one big article with different chapters.

Why not just use group? Articles are organized by content type normally, and there will be hundreds of thousands of them with dozens of groups. This is good for writting, but not good for reading and enjoying the words. Sometimes some articles are not finished or prepared to publish and read, but others do. With subject I can gather the best of them, to read, to memorize, to publish and share. As soon as the unfinished one is prepared, I can add it to some subject that makes it more substantial.

Make a simple analogy, group like photo album, full of simple organized photos, but subject like the printed ones sitting on my desk that I can enjoy it for a whole day.

This is my ideal subject.

Above is just personal foolish thought, maybe not good, only want to make writing better.
