How do I turn on the KLN 90B?

  1. Make sure your aircraft is powered, the avionics bus is on and no circuit brakers are pulled
  2. Turn on the KLN 90B by pushing the power button in, it is located on the upper right side of the unit (Some aircraft may require a right click. If you use right click to pan the camera around, then hold left click before right clicking)
  3. Wait a few seconds, the screen will need to warm up before it shows the welcome page

It takes a long time until a GPS signal is acquired

If you have not used the KLN in the past three months (or ever), it will need to search the entire sky for valid GPS satelites . Afterwards, this catalogue will be saved, so the next time will be faster. The KLN 90B also remembers your last position. If this differs from you actual position, GPS acquisition will take longer. In this case, enter your position on the SET 1 page.

Alternativly, you can set the GPS acquisition time to fast on the SET 10 page. GPS acquisition will then take less than 30 seconds.

When I use the popped out window, the text becomes blurry

This is caused by a glow effect. It looks fine in 3D cockpits, but causes the popped out window to be blurry. The glow effect can be disabled on the SET 10 page.

How do I load a flight plan

Simulator flight plan

Upon startup, the KLN will load the simulator flight plan from the world map into FPL 0.

.pln file

To load a .pln file, save the file at Community\falcon71-kln90b\flightplan\kln\kln.pln. The file must be named kln.pln, no other name can be used. Then go to the SET 10 page, press IMPORT FPL and follow the dialogue.

Note: This feature is not available on XBox. The import button will not be visible if no kln.pln exists.

User Waypoints

User waypoints or coordinate waypoints will be imported as SUP waypoints. Those waypoints are marked as temporary and are treated the same way as waypoints created on the REF page. This means, those waypoints will automatically be deleted once they are no longer used in a flight plan and the device has been turned off. If a flight plan contains more than 30 waypoints, the remaining waypoints will be imported, but not added into the flight plan. They can be still be added to the flight plan manually during the flight. The name of SUP waypoints have a maximum length of 5 characters and the KLN will ensure, that the name is unique. If no unique name could be generated, then the waypoint will be skipped.

The AIRAC is out of date

The KLN uses the AIRAC from the base sim. Either wait until Asobo updates the AIRAC or update it with Navigraph. Another workaround is to set the date in the sim to the past.

Updating the nav data

If you use Navigraph, please see these instructions on how to update the nav data of the sim, no further steps are required in the KLN: https://forum.navigraph.com/t/faq-msfs-how-to-install-update-the-navigraph-navdata-installer/4135

Otherwise, the Asobo updates will be applied automatically when available, no further steps are required in the KLN.
