History[]
Enter the GetBackers Arc[]
Mamoru is first introduced as the first character who hired the GetBackers Amano Ginji and Mido Ban to retrieve his video game (Final Fantasy IX) from his classmate, when the GetBackers are at their peak desperation for food. Out of mockery, he only offers to pay them 10 yen so that the GetBackers can afford a can of soda that they had been eyeing on. Despite getting beaten by the classmate's brother, who is a big and strong looking Yakuza, the GetBackers still manage to retrieve the game.
Mamoru gives them the 10 yen, and sarcastically thanked them. Then, Ban buys the drink from the vending machine. However, before Ban can select the soda option, the vending machine has already processed the coin, and it gives them a can of spring water, which contains no calories at all. The GetBackers are shocked and they cry tears of desperation, and then they realized a super sticky gum stucked in between the button and the gap for the spring water option. Mamoru then suddenly reveals his mischievous personality in an outburst of laughter, callously referring the GetBackers as "idiots". Realizing that this is the handiwork of Mamoru, Ban gives chase but he immediately runs out of energy and lets Mamoru escape.

They then find Mamoru again, and has no choice but to bend to Mamoru's mockery of offering them a retrieval job only for 10 yen. Before the GetBackers can get more information about the card game that Mamoru wants them to retrieves, Mamoru walks away and tells them that they will know soon enough and that there are clients waiting for them back at the Honky Tonk cafe. However, the GetBackers learn from these clients that they are parents who want to retrieve their children, and Mamoru is one of the children who had run away from home.
When Sariel returns to the hideout, Raguel questions him that if he was the one to let Ban Mido escape from Lucifer and Sariel since they knew them time ago, which he replies that he wasn't as he does not have any reason to do it.
As they watch Ban's training, Raguel again tease Mamoru about his relationship with the Get Backers; but Sariel stops her and tells Mamoru that now it is his turn to take down the Get Backers. Mamoru starts using the cards to trap Himiko in a dark swamp and been ran over by a truck but Ban manages to save her. As he fails to kill Himko Kudo and Ban Mido, Mamoru is ordered by Raguel and Uriel to fight Amano Ginji to make up for his previous mistake.
Gabriel about to confront Ginji.
Quickly, Mamoru manages to trap Amano Ginji in a domain to separate him from the rest of the group. Mamoru reveals to Ginji he's the Angel of Truth and releases his water monsters H2O against him. Before the battle continues, Mamoru tells him that Kazuki has killed Hevn and Ginji replies that it ain't possible and that Lucifer is only lying to them. Mamoru gets upset and orders his H20 monters to destroy him. Ginji evaporates his monsters quickly and tells him that if Mamoru doesn't betrays Lucifer, it's because he has his guardian card. Gabriel replies that all of them give their cards to Lucifer by their own will and he then traps Ginji in a water cage and proceeds to release his angel against Ginji. However, Ginji activates his card's power, Thor, and is able to defeat Gabriel easily. Mamoru then cries calling for his mother and faints. It is then revealed that Mamoru was bullied everyday at school, he saw himself as a tool for his parents, his parents never saved him, and realized that he was all alone.
Gabriel reveals his cursed claw mark to Ginji.
He then wakes up and Ginji cheerfully by his side, offering ice-cream. They start talking about his life and how he met Lucifer and that now he hates her mom for not understanding him. Mamoru further reveals how he picked up Divine Design cards, one day that he wished his bullies to get an accident and when it happened in reality, it was when he truly realized the power of the Divine Design, and he joined up with Lucifer. Mamoru then tells Ginji that is a miracle he fought that well and defeated him and now, it is his job to retrieve his guardian card since Lucifer now knows of his betrayal and saves him from a certain death. He shows him the cursed claw he and the other archangels have on their back and tells him he only has until sunset before he dies.
Mamoru then stays at the Honky Tonk, watching for Remiel and waiting for the Get Backers.
After Lucifer is defeated by Ban, Lucifer reveals that the cursed claw mark was never truly on the children, and he erased the illusion of cursed claw mark.
