The latest move in an ongoing struggle between the Genesee County Agricultural Society and Richfield Township is back to court. Commonly referred to as the fair board, the society filed suit in Genesee County Circuit Court last week, claiming the township is violating the U.S. Constitution. Township Attorney Richard Figura said there were two counts in the suit. One attacks the fees requested by the township and asks the court to declare them unconstitutional, he said. The second calls the township zoning ordinance unconstitutional because it doesn’t allow for the development of an agricultural fair. The litigation will be forwarded to the township and then sent to their insurance carrier, Figura said.

Scoring early and establishing a cushion proved to be the winning philosophy for the Davison Cardinals when they handed visiting Beecher a 31-29 loss Friday, Oct 21. Just over five minutes into the game, Cardinal quarterback Brandon Bell scampered 37 yards on a keeper to set up the first score. Gives to Mitch Huffman and Rob Campbell failed to put the ball over the goal line. Huffman carried again on the third and goal, pushing the ball to within a foot of pay dirt, and Bell took it across on fourth down to establish the Cardinals lead.
