One of the most important days in Black history has finally been recognized as a national holiday. On June 17, 2021 President Joe Biden signed a bipartisan bill that officially made Juneteenth, which is also known as Black Liberation Day, a federal holiday. It is the nation’s 12th federal holiday and the first new one since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was signed into law in 1983.
