After a grey Saturday the weather improved significantly so that we used Sunday for an extended trip to locations north of the Wiehengebirge to visit the Große Torfmoor, a wildlife sanctuary between Lübbecke and Minden in East-Westphalia. The area is a mix of moorland, lakes and small forests and performs perfect Autumn colours at the end of October.

SMALL SPARROW-SIZED, fairly common, stay in small family groups, hunting for flying insects normally from a perch.
Favors open bushy grassland, often near water with tall grass.
Could and do watch these for hours, love the way they confide in you, and if you stick a dry leafless branch into the ground, you do not have to wait long, before they land on it. Also saw swallow-tailed bee-eaters, and blue-cheeked bee-eaters.

THANK YOU for your visit and kind comments, it is appreciated, and find very encouraging, please stay safe and God bless.........................................Tomx

LONG distance palaearctic migrant, seasonally common, October to March. Favours shoreline and open sandy or muddy estuaries. Small dumpy, with a fast low flight. Managed to get very close to this one by use of a small boat.

CHARMING AND WELL-MARKED little finch, resident in the U.K all year, bet tend to head north in the summer, so was very lucky to see this male and a juvenile, both captured. Have not see any in Kent this year, but a trip to Sussex proved fruitful. Best time to see them is in the winter, when it searches in the leafiest trees for seeds.

NO FAVE WITHOUT A COMMENT PLEASE.
CHARMING GOLDFINCH, very colourful bird, and a favorite among many birders. Widespread and can be found in the region throughout the year, visits garden feeders, and a real joy to watch, they do squabble among themselves for the best position. Found Minster, Thanet Kent U.K.

Light and shade. Beautiful lines. Sparkling snow. All this I found in the park of my city on a cold but sunny day.

Apparently this amazing rock formation is not a human-made monument – it’s a monument of Mother Nature. Vermillion Cliffs (Arisona, U.S.A.) at Navajo Bridge.

Je ne pensais pas qu'une libellule était aussi compliquée à photographier...
