Susan Kay "Suzy" Bogguss (born December 30, 1956) is an Americancountry music singer and songwriter. Bogguss began her career in the early 1980s as a solo singer. In the 1990s, she released one platinum and three gold albums and charted six top ten singles, winning the Academy of Country Music's award for Top New Female Vocalist and the Country Music Association's Horizon Award.
After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music industry, but did not match her earlier chart success. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 2001, Bogguss continues to record and tour extensively.
Early life and rise to success
Susan Kay Bogguss was born in Aledo, Illinois, the youngest of four born to Barbara "B.J." (née Stewart) and Charles "Bud" Bogguss. Charles was an Army officer who served in the Pacific Ocean theatre of World War II, and later became a machinist who worked at an International Harvester plant at East Moline. B.J. was a secretary-auditor for a Midwest grocery chain. Her grandmothers played piano at theaters. At age 5, she began singing in the Angel Choir of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church in her hometown. With her parents' encouragement, she took lessons in piano and drums, and as a teenager picked up the guitar as well. In her youth, Bogguss would visit Roy Rogers and Dale Evans at their home in Apple Valley, California, as they attended the same church as her grandparents. She starred in several musicals at Aledo High School, where she was crowned homecoming queen during her fourth year. After graduating in 1975, she enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, but later transferred to Illinois State University (ISU) in Normal. She graduated from ISU in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in metalsmithing. She would later use these skills to design her own jewelry.
The Yellow River or Huáng Hé is the third-longest river in Asia, following the Yangtze River and Yenisei River, and the sixth-longest in the world at the estimated length of 5,464km (3,395mi). Originating in the Bayan Har Mountains in Qinghai province of western China, it flows through nine provinces, and it empties into the Bohai Sea near the city of Dongying in Shandong province. The Yellow River basin has an east–west extent of about 1,900 kilometers (1,180mi) and a north–south extent of about 1,100km (680mi). Its total basin area is about 742,443 square kilometers (286,659sqmi).
The Yellow River is called "the cradle of Chinese civilization", because its basin was the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization, and it was the most prosperous region in early Chinese history. However, because of frequent devastating floods and course changes produced by the continual elevation of the river bed (due in part to manmade erosion upstream), sometimes above the level of its surrounding farm fields, it also has the names China's Sorrow and Scourge of the Sons of Han.
Much of the river's course is very scenic, coursing between vegetated limestone cliffs. The watershed is located in northeastern Iowa’s unglaciated Driftless Area. The catchment measures 154,666 acres (625.91km2) and is mainly state forest or farmland. Much of the region is quite rugged, and little urban development has encroached upon it.
Its beauty, lack of development, recreational potential and interesting wildlife habitats make it a candidate for development as a park. The state has developed Yellow River State Forest over time (the lavender parts of the map here). Effigy Mounds National Monument has also grown, either by direct purchase or from gifts.
The Yellow River in north central Wisconsin is a tributary of the Chippewa River. For the most part it is a mud and rock-bottomed river flowing through forest and farmland. It is one of four distinct rivers in the state bearing the name Yellow River.
Geography
This Yellow River begins at Matt Ochs Lake and Perch Lake in the township of Molitor near Perkinstown in the Chequamegon National Forest. This area of small lakes and swamps is the terminal moraine left by the last glacier, which reached this far about 18,000 years ago. The river runs a short way before it forms Chequamegon Waters Flowage, locally known as Miller Dam. Below Miller Dam, there is one more dam, at Cadott, forming another small reservoir, before the river joins the Chippewa River when it flows into Lake Wissota at Moon Bay.
Much of the Yellow is undeveloped - in particular the upper stretches through the Chequamegon Forest. In very few places will you see any sign of man. The only settlements along the river are Gilman and Cadott.

So long, boy, you can take my place
I got my papers, I got my pay
So pack my bags and I'll be on my way to Yellow River
Put my gun down, the war is won
Fill my glass high, the time has come
I'm goin' back to the place that I love Yellow River
Yellow River, Yellow River is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow River, Yellow River is in my blood, it's the place that I love
Got no time for explanations, got no time to lose

China is building another mega dam on Yellow River: https://sc.mp/0wae
Preventing natural disasters from the Yellow River has been the goal of every Chinese ruler since ancient times, and the current Chinese government is no exception. But what makes China’s “mother river” so vulnerable to natural calamities, that it has also become known as the “Sorrow of China”? And how have past civilisations tamed the river and tapped its full potential?

(Suzy Bogguss/Doug Crider) Half empty airport, plane's at the gate They tell her it's full, she says she'll wait She's been here all evening sitting all alone Watching the business men talk on the phone She fixes her make up, cleans out her purse Leaving is hard, but staying is worse Just for a moment it crosses her mind She could go back, no not this time It's almost midnight, and they just called her name She's on that last flight, now nothing's the same Her ticket says standby, but she can stand on her own She's all through crying, now she's flying Taking that red-eye home Sitting in smoking, but she doesn't smoke A traveling salesman tells her a joke She just stares out the window as they're packing that jet Not quite sad, but she's not laughing yet It's almost midnight, and they just called her name She's on that last flight, now nothing's the same Her ticket says standby, but she can stand on her own She's all through crying, now she's flying Taking that red-eye home It's just eleven fifty-four but it's a new day They're starting to board, she's flying away It's almost midnight, and they just called her name She's on that last flight, now nothing's the same Her ticket says standby, but she can stand on her own She's all through crying, now she's flying Taking that red-eye home She's all through crying, she's flying Taking that red-eye home
