How many Lotto millionaires were made over the year as luckiest counties revealed

A staggering number of people living in Ireland will be entering 2025 significantly richer as the National Lottery has revealed how many people became millionaires in 2024.

With just one week to go in 2024, the National Lottery has detailed how many players walked away with millionaire status after playing either Lotto, Euromillions, Daily Million or Telly Bingo over the last 52 weeks.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: ‘The National Lottery have created a massive 33 brand new millionaires in 2024 with over 161 players sharing over €103 million alone in high tier prizes across all draw-based games.’

The news comes after it was revealed that Dublin, Cork, Kerry and Limerick emerged as the ‘big winners’ of 2024 with the most millionaires being made in those three counties.

Dublin topped the charts for National Lottery wins with over €21 million paid out to 32 players, seven of which won prizes in excess of €1 million.   

The biggest winners were in Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

HISTORIC

One of the Limerick winners claimed the second-largest prize of 2024, a Lotto jackpot worth an astounding €8.9 million.

Remarkably, the winning ticket was purchased in the same shop that previously sold the historic €115 million EuroMillions jackpot ticket to Dolores McNamara in 2005. 

In Cork, while three people were made millionaires, 21 lucky players received a share of over €6.5m after striking lucky playing lotto games in stores across the rebel county.

NO MILLIONAIRES

While several counties also reported either one or two millionaires made from National Lottery games, several counties across the nation saw no millionaires made and a minute number of players win ‘high tier’ prizes of over €15,000.

Offaly, Carlow and Monaghan only reported small wins throughout 2024, with no millionaires being made in any of the counties and just one person from each county winning a ‘high tier’ prize.

Almost every other county topped the €1m mark when it came to high-tier prizes, even if no players were made millionaires.

ONLINE WINNERS

Online players continued to win big in 2024 with €32 million paid out to 34 players, 8 of which won prizes in excess of €1 million. Four of these online players were from Dublin alone. 

The big winners were also reported in Roscommon, Kerry, Meath and Kildare with four other players walking away with life-changing amounts of money.

Meanwhile, the countdown is on as there is just one week left to go until the highly anticipated Millionaire Raffle, which takes place on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31.

Millionaire Raffle will give away an incredible 8,500 cash prizes. As well as the top prize of €1 million, there are 6 prizes of €100,000, 15 prizes of €10,000, 45 prizes of €5,000, 302 prizes of €1,000 and 8,131 prizes of €500 available to win
