Boni

Boni is not the proper plural form of bonuses in english or latin. It is not the duty of this site to create new words to accommodate improper usage. If and only if boni becomes a commonly used alternative should it be included, otherwise it's just a typo or improper usage at best.

Please stop adding it.

I think if there was some rubbish in the talk page, it can be blanked out or the sentence(s) removed, that way, if you need to talk about the actual entry, you don't need to recreate deleted items. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Adjective

Bonus is also used as an adjective. Consider the statement, "I was playing pinball and I earned bonus points." Bonus is describing the noun in the direct object, "points", and would thus be an adjective, or am I missing something? — This comment was unsigned.

Virtually every sense of every noun in English can be used attributively as in the example above. If dictionaries had entries that simply repeated each sense of every noun reworded as a definition of an adjective, they would be longer without really adding to the users' understanding. If a word that is originally a noun develops in adjectival a sense that is distinct we would add that distinct sense to an adjective section. If such a word is used as a predicate: "Those points are bonus." rather than "Those points are a bonus.", it would be evidence of the word being an adjective. Gradability ("very bonus") and comparability ("more bonus than") are also evidence. If you can find such evidence that meets WT:Attestation, we would be happy to show the usage, even if it is rare in durably archived sources. DCDuring TALK 12:14, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

A bribe?

Chambers 1908 defines bonus as "a douceur or bribe", which interests me because we no longer use the word to describe any sort of criminally dubious money: it's now associated with promotions at work etc. Equinox ◑ 23:09, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Boni as the plural Form in English?

While Bonuses is certainly the most orthodox pluralization I feel Boni isn’t unheard of and should be mentioned as an alternative, if uncommon, form. Fritz1776 (talk) 19:32, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
