Rename?

[edit]

It's surprisingly not easy to judge whether a Chinese disyllabic lemma is monomorphemic or not.

  1. The border between disyllabic synonym compound (同義複用) and disyllabic morpheme is blur. Like 參差.
  2. Sometimes a monosyllablic version and a dysillablic one coexist. E.g. 崑山 refers to 崑崙; 慫恿 has a monosyllabic version 慫. Is the disyllabic lemma a compound or the monosyllable is a clipping?
  3. How to deal with such lemma which is made of a lemma + bond morpheme, like 蝴蝶?

Thus I feel “disyllabic morpheme” pratically a hard-to-define concept. Should this category get renamed? As Chinese lianmianci lemma? I've seen “lianmianci” used in a loose definition. Dokurrat (talk) 09:03, 4 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
