[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀪𑀝𑁆𑀞 (bhaṭṭha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-) without compensatory lengthening, from Sanskrit भ्रष्ट्र (bhraṣṭra). By surface analysis, भट्ठा (bhaṭṭhā) + -ई (-ī). Cognate with Punjabi ਭੱਠ (bhaṭṭha).
