Borrowed from Classical Persian تنور (tan(n)ūr), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (tnwl). Ultimately from Akkadian 𒋾𒂟 (tinūru). Compare Bengali তন্দুর (tondur), Punjabi ਤੰਦੂਰ (tandūr).
