How to use this page
[edit]Making a request
[edit]Before asking volunteers to look for your source, try finding it yourself with the tools at your disposal.
In particular, eligible editors can use the Wikipedia Library, which gives access to content provided by numerous academic publishers.
- Though we would prefer you to ask for a specific journal, article or work, we will accept open-ended questions. You can ask for all kinds of sources here, either on this page or by writing directly to an active user.
- Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, date and identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc. Indicate which article you need this for.
- Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot send you full book/thesis copies. Narrow down your request to a specific chapter or page(s).
- Add the {{Resolved}} template when your request is completed.
- Filled requests are archived. Requests unfilled after three months will also be archived.
Fulfilling a request
[edit]- Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests, in full or in part. When fulfilling a part of a request, tell others which one so that they don't have to do the same work.
- Notify (mention) the requester using
{{u|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}
. - You can:
- post a URL address ( https://... ) if the material is available online and the webpage does not infringe others' copyrights
- share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service if legal
- upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/or Wikisource (make sure your institution's policies allow this). Check Wikimedia Commons's guide for copyright in each jurisdiction if in doubt.
- email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser ("wikimail") feature. Attachments are not supported, so you need the user's email address to send them. You can configure your wikimail in Special:Preferences.

[edit]Looking for one book
[edit]Looking for one book. I only remember the beginning of the piece. Some guy found a derelict computer, sat down at it and started doing something, and then he saw a man with a gun walk up to the desk, they looked at each other in silence for a while, then the guy mechanically pressed the Enter button and the man shot him back. The work was read in the 1990s or very early 2000s. The piece appeared no later than the 1990s (probably earlier). I also remember that the guy was doing something enthusiastically on the computer: at first he typed without looking at the screen, but the message on the computer monitor made him do his work more slowly and carefully. The phrases went something like this. The message on the computer screen made him work more carefully. Behind the desk stood a man with a gun in his hand. The guy had never seen a real gun, except in the movies, but he knew immediately what it was. The guy's hand dropped mechanically to the Enter button, and the same second the black muzzle of the gun burst into flames, ending his life.

[edit]page layout of article in The (Weekend?) Australian
[edit]- Shedden, Iain; et al. (June 28, 2003). "Dark Side of the Mon". Review. The (Weekend?) Australian (1 - Preprints / Saturday Preprints ed.). Saturday Preprints Edition. p. B12. EBSCOhost 200306281B12584535. Factiva austln0020030627dz6s00020. Nexis Uni 4900-TCM0-015G-P12J-00000-00.
For You've Never Seen Everything.
This article contains multiple reviews back-to-back, split over multiple lines with no separators and no labels. I have access to the full text of this article through the 3 providers I linked, but they're all formatted as plain text with confusing layout, rather than page scans. Factiva tries to group some lines together, but their choice of how to split up the reviews doesn't match what makes sense to me.
The container is cited as The Australian by Factiva, The Weekend Australian by Nexis Uni, and both by EBSCOhost. Through the Wikipedia Library, we have access on ProQuest to both The Australian ("1 Edition") and Weekend Australian ("1 - All-round Country Edition") for this date, but neither of them seems to include this article, and the articles there are formatted as text rather than images anyways.
Does anyone have access to a hard-copy or an actual page scan of this? NewsBank might be useful for this if someone has access to it.
Thanks, Solomon Ucko (talk) 15:43, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Just to clarify it a little: there is The Australian newspaper. Its Saturday edition includes the insert magazine titled The Weekend Australian Magazine. June 28, 2003 was Saturday. That said, though, the article about the newspaper says that "Saturday lift-outs include 'Review', focusing on books, arts, film, and television", so I think that's the newspaper itself (The Australian), not the magazine. - FO 58 is Foreign office, General Correspondence, Pacific Islands, 1822-1905 345 vols and

- Have you received an email from PAGASA yet? Tavantius (talk) 13:14, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- None, sadly. I also tried calling their phone number from PAGASA (dost.gov.ph) and no results. I could walk-in to their office as a last resort, but it would be at most a month before I have the free time to do so.
- I sent an e-mail on October 7, and a follow-up on October 12 and today. I also included your request for the 1965 report. RFNirmala (talk) 00:35, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Tavantius, I have bad news. PAGASA provides no response. I've been calling their trunklines multiple times, but they (the local lines themselves, not necessarily the data) are "unavailable" from what I received. I was being directed to different departments, then eventually the data specialists of "1122" line. When I call their local line, I receive that their line in unavailable at the moment. The best I can advise is send an email yourself and be as detailed as possible (e.g. your info: name, organization, which they asked from me). You can ask again in WP:TAMBAY. For me, it would be very unlikely I'll send the cyclone report this month (or year, even). I'm sorry. RFNirmala (talk) 03:04, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Monograph of the genus Hypericum
[edit]Hello all, I'm a specialist who's done a lot of work on the genus Hypericum, but my recent work has been stymied because I can't access a source. The main corpus of work on this genus was done by Norman Robson, who produced a monograph over the latter half of the 20th century. The first few volumes are freely available, but I've been unable to find the later volumes anywhere. If anyone has access to these papers or knows where to find them I would be incredibly grateful:
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Hypericaceae). 5(2). Section 17. Hirtella to 19
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Hypericaceae) 5(1). Sections 10. Olympia to 15/16. Crossophyllum
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Hypericaceae) 9. Addenda, corrigenda, keys, lists and general discussion
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Clusiaceae). Section 9. Hypericum sensu lato (part 3): Subsection 1. Hypericum series 2. Senanensia, subsection 2. Erecta and section 9b. Graveolentia
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Guttiferae) 4(1). Sections 7. Roscyna to 9. Hypericum sensu lato (part 1)
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Guttiferae). 6. Sections 20. Myriandra to 28. Elodes
- Studies in the genus Hypericum L. (Guttiferae) 8. Sections 29. Brathys (part 2) and 30. Trigynobrathys
And any others you might be able to find! Thank you in advance, being able to access these works will unlock my ability to comprehensively cover this fascinating genus. Fritzmann (message me) 13:29, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

The "cladodont level" sharks of the Pennsylvanian black shales of central North America, 1985
[edit]- Williams, Michael E. (1 January 1985). "The 'cladodont level' sharks of the Pennsylvanian black shales of central North America". Palaeontographica Abteilung A Band A190 Lieferung 3-6 (1985). Schweizerbart and Borntraeger science publishers: 83-158.
Cladodont, Stethacanthus, Phoebodus, Symmorium, Elasmobranchii, Symmoriiformes, Fish jaw
I already have access to the 1979 thesis version of this article in full, via this [3] ProQuest link, however I do not have access to the final published draft. This article redefines the Cladodont sharks and provides the initial description for the order Symmoriiformes and significant information on Cladoselache, Stethacanthus, Phoebodus and Cobelodus, as well as many taxa that do not yet have finished articles due to the lack of reliable sources. Additional information is provided regarding the evolution of Elasmobranchii and the evolution of fish jaws, which can also be added to these articles. I am under the impression that theses are not suitable citations for Wikipedia, and I assume a significant amount of revision took place between the publication of the thesis and the final article. I'm not able to provide a paywalled link to the article's 1985 version, nor a DOI.

Icons of Black America: Breaking Barriers and Crossing Boundaries
[edit]Hello
Does anyone have access to Icons of Black America: Breaking Barriers and Crossing Boundaries. ISBN 0313376433, 9780313376436. It's in 3 volumes. The reason I'm asking is because the Hattie McDaniel page, says: "In 1908, she entered a contest sponsored by the Women's Christian Temperance Union, reciting "Convict Joe", later claiming she had won first place." This is referenced to Icons of Black America (plus another link which doesn't seem to lead anywhere). If I Google it, there are websites which state that she did win this prize (ie https://collections.new.oscars.org/Details/Archive/70043581). I'd like to know if there is a story behind this so-called "claim" to have won a contest - it's an odd way of describing it, if she did in fact win. If anyone can access this, and find something about Hattie McDaniel reading this poem, I would be very appreciative. Thanks, Blackballnz (talk) 04:53, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

Newspaper articles from Stars and Stripes and Nippon Times about an abacus contest
[edit]The article on soroban describes a contest that took place in 1946 between an abacus operator and an electric calculator operator. The article currently states that it took place on November 12, 1946, but I have found evidence that it actually took place on the 11th; I'd like copies of the newspaper articles quoted in the current version of the article to see if they have more information, one from the Stars and Stripes (presumably a Pacific edition) and one from the Nippon Times. The articles aren't named or dated, but searching on or around November 12 should hopefully work. Arcorann (talk) 12:25, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think you know that a Pacific American 11th November evening is a Japanese 12th November morning? – Doc Taxon • Talk • 23:22, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Arcorann: For the newspaper articles:
- The Nippon Times published an article on page 2 titled "Matsuzaki Fingers His Way to Victory In Abacus-Calculating Machine Contest" on Wednesday, November 13, 1946. The first sentence mentioned Monday, which was the 11th:
Civilization, on the threshold of the atomic age, tottered Monday afternoon as the 2,000-year-old abacus beat the electric calculating machine in adding, subtracting, dividing and a problem including all thee with multiplcation thrown in, according to UP.
- The Stars and Stripes (Pacific) published an article on page 1 titled "Abacus Expert Downs Calculating Machine Surrendering Only In Multiplication Race", by Lawrence Stern, on Tuesday, November 12, 1946. The first sentence mentioned yesterday, which was the 11th :
The machine Age took a step backward yesterday at the Ernie Pyle Theater as the abacus, centuries old, dealt defeat to the most up-to-date electric calculating machine now being used by the United States Government.
- Please send me an email for a scan of the Nippon Times article. The article from The Stars and Stripes is accessible via TWL through Ancestry.com. The proxy search function is broken, but after playing around with it, I found the direct link, which should work: here ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 23:34, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

For Animal as Bridegroom and the Italian variants. The pages seem too much, but I'm asking for types AT 425A, AT 425B, AT 425D, AT 425E, and AT 425L:
- Subtype AT 425A is "King Crin" (heroine's journey, gifts from helpers, bribe of false bride for three nights)
- Subtype AT 425B is "The Golden Root" and "The King of Love" (heroine's tasks for witch, "quest for casket" and "visit to second witch", as Hans-Jörg Uther describes in the international index)
- Subtype AT 425D is about the heroine founding/building an inn and getting information about her missing husband from passersby
- AT 425E is "Lo catenaccio"/"The Padlock" (heroine discovers padlock on her husband's body and opens it; heroine's expulsion and refuge in castle; husband comes at night and sings lullaby with clues to disenchant him)
- AT 425L is related to Greek tale "Filek-Zelebi" (heroine's expulsion and refuge in third sister-in-law's castle).
If the page range exceeds the limit, I could dispense the section about AT 425D.

[edit]Hi all, a few requests for TWL stuff that I can't access... [4], [5], [6], [7], [8].
Sorry it's so much! It's regarding my G13 request for Domain.
And last but not least, if anyone fancies doing a general search of TWL for e.g. "James Herbert" AND "Domain"
, in case there's anything academic written on it, that'd be cool, although possibly a PITA :)
Thanks for any help! Cheers, SerialNumber54129 11:23, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Serial Number 54129: Sent NYT and The Times. NYT should be accessible via the link you sent though. As for the BNA links, could you provide any other info on them? I could try to see if I have access through a different database.
- I did a quick search as you requested, but came across a bunch of false positives, so I didn't really dig much further. There are a couple more newspaper reviews though. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 19:09, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

- I see what you mean—blast! But it was mostly reviews I think. I subscribed to the ticket. In the meantime, it advances :) SerialNumber54129 20:27, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Serial Number 54129: Sent the first two BNA articles.
- There's this weird workaround I found. If you signup for a BNA account (no credit card/payment info needed) it lets you view 3 pages for free. Clicking on the link you gave returns an access denied error, but if you strip the URL to just the number parts, it works! (Delete everything before and including "%252fbl%252f", delete everything after and including "&rememberme", replace all "%252f" with /, and stick https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/ infront of the first number) I used that to get the first two articles you requested (the other free page was used for testing). - @Serial Number 54129: It’s not in TWL website anymore, probably due to phab:T359818. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 20:20, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks ARandomName123 for looking, and for both of those. yes I can see the NYT page now—no idea why I didn't see it earlier, so sorry for wasting your time! As for BNA, isn't it on TWL any more? SerialNumber54129 20:10, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
Some chapters from The New Routledge Companion to Science Fiction
[edit]I am particularly interested in the following chapters:
- Ch. 27 on South Korean science fiction for the article in question (for its creation)
- Ch. 13 on Japanese science fiction, ditto (for its expansion)
- Ch. 15 on Chinese science fiction, ditto
- Ch. 7 on Russian-language science fiction, for improving Russian science fiction and related
- Ch. 8 on South Asian science fiction, ditto...
I'll stop here, this should give me enough to do for a while.

WestLaw citations
[edit]Apologies in advance for asking for so many sources this time. I would be using them to further improve the "I Got That" article as I would like to see if any of these citations have more information about the song. I do not believe that I have access to WestLaw, but apologies if it is something available through the Wikipedia Library and I just somehow overlooked it. The sources are below:
- Jones, Steve (September 20, 2000). "Amanda Ghost writes a spirited debut – Rap: Amil, All Money Is Legal". USA Today – via WestLaw.
- Thompson, Anthony M. (September 22, 2000). "New Music Reviews: Amil, A.M.I.L. (All Money Is Legal) (Roc-A-Fella/Columbia)". San Antonio Express-News – via WestLaw.
- Righi, Len (January 6, 2001). "Spotlight on the Best and Worst Discs of 2000". The Morning Call – via WestLaw.
- Baker, Soren (September 17, 2000). "Pop Music Record Rack". Los Angeles Times – via WestLaw.
Thank you in advance for all of your help. I really do appreciate it. Aoba47 (talk) 21:11, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Essay from 1984 Chinese book
[edit]- Ouyang, Yuqian (1984). 回忆春柳 [Reminiscences of the Spring Willow Society]. 欧阳予倩戏剧论文集 [Ouyang Yuqian's Collected Essays on Drama] (in Chinese). Shanghai: Shanghai Wenyi Chubanshe.
For Black Slave's Cry to Heaven (currently at User:Crisco 1492/Black Slave's Cry to Heaven). My source indicates that this should be around page 144-146, but I don't know if the essay is longer; if longer, I'd appreciate the whole thing.

Billboard Pro article on chart performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Warriors
[edit]- Caulfield, Keith (2024-10-29). "'Warriors' Concept Album Makes Chart-Topping Debut". Billboard. Retrieved 2024-12-04.
I'm looking to add a "commercial performance" section to Warriors (Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis album), so am looking for first week sales figures or similar. I suspect this source goes into more detail than the sentence about debuting at number one that's visible to non-subscribers. Any other suggestions for sources with similar info welcome! Many thanks. HMS Unruffled
[edit]- Walters, Derek (2004). The History of the British 'U' Class Submarine. Barnsley: Pen & Sword. ISBN 9781844151318. OCLC [https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/1137753606 1137753606.
For HMS Unruffled.
I'm making this request on behalf of User:Heavywick. It recently came to light on Template:Did you know nominations/HMS Unruffled that Walters 2004 could greatly help not just the nomination and future article improvement, but also the current article. It looks like the publisher has an EPUB available. Hosting institutions often allow students access to digital versions. I thought I would give it a shot. Thanks, Viriditas (talk) 23:09, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Viriditas: I don't have access to the EPUB, but I Sent you scanned pages of all index mentions of HMS Unruffled, along with the index itself. If you need anything else from the book, just let me know. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 01:37, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- Wow, thank you. I received the files. It looks like Heavywick doesn't have email enabled, but I will figure something out when they come back online. I will leave them a note on their talk page. Thanks, again! Viriditas (talk) 01:55, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
