Are the searches working for you? I can't seem to access most of the site for some reason; I could just fine until today, so hopefully they aren't trying to block people out. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 21:00, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

February GA Sweeps update

Progress as of January 2010

Thanks to everyone's efforts to the GA Sweeps process, we are currently over 95% done with around 130 articles left to be swept! Currently there are over 50 members participating in Sweeps, that averages out to about 3 articles per person! If each member reviews an article once a week this month (or several!), we'll be completely finished. At that point, awards will be handed out to reviewers. Per my message last month, although we did not review 100 articles last month, I still made a donation of $90 (we had 90 reviews completed/initiated) to Wikipedia Forever on behalf of all GA Sweeps reviewers. I would like to thank everyone's efforts for last month, and ask for additional effort this month so we can be finished. I know you have to be sick of seeing these updates (as well as Sweeps itself) by now, so please do consider reviewing a few articles if you haven't reviewed in a while. If you have any questions about reviews or Sweeps let me know and I'll be happy to get back to you. Again, thank you for taking the time to help with the process, I appreciate your efforts! --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:46, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Walter Chin

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Walter Chin. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Walter Chin. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:17, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Congrats on Cloudgate

A well deserved TFA!

I visited Chicago last week (my "hometown") and was thinking that I might bring up the number of photos in National Register of Historic Places listings in Chicago to a level where I could say "Tony, get a couple of folks to spend a weekend and make the list "fully illustrated" " Well, not quite - I'm uploading about 20, but there's something like 50-60 left to go. Given Chicago's place in modern architecture it certainly deserves to be "fully illustrated." Maybe when I visit again next year!

Again, congrats.

Orphaned non-free media (File:20100108_SNGWizard_tournament_view.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:20100108_SNGWizard_tournament_view.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:25, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

New nugget of info on BP Bridge

Hey. I was doing some research on the Agora sculpture in Grant Park and found a new nugget of info on the BP Pedestrian Bridge. It seems that, at some point, there was a proposal for the sculptor of Agora to design a giant sculpture of a hand at the end of the BP Bridge.

I haven't found much information about the plan, beyond a brief mention in a Tribune article (Noreen S. Ahmed. "Future art in the park ; 106-piece sculpture by Polish artist is on its way to Grant Park". Chicago Tribune. September 27, 2006. 1.) But I thought you might be interested. Thank you for uploading File:1926 view of Grant Park Peristyle.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:13, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Aerial view of University of Michigan bl000076 bhl.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Aerial view of University of Michigan bl000076 bhl.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for File:Willard Motley.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Willard Motley.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:McCarthy Building image2.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:McCarthy Building image2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:32, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

The article David Sills (American football) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Should be deleted under WP:BLP1E.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The {{FAC-instructions}} were recently changed; nominators are now no longer allowed to have multiple FACs open at any time, so perhaps you should remove your new nomination from FAC for the time being. Ucucha 21:09, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Blackstone Lobby

The concern was that Interior design can have protectable artistic elements in it, and I wasn't sure if FoP applied to 'interior' spaces and 'architectural' features, in the same way as it can be applied to exteriors.

Thanks for updating the licensing on other images I have queried BTW Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:37, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, can you provide some more information (such as an artist or date?),

as the linked article doesn't seem to mention the mural.

Perhaps the article needs expansion on this as well?

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Calder-Polychrome and Horizontal Bluebird.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Calder-Polychrome and Horizontal Bluebird.jpg.

Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:02, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tony, for some reason this page is appearing in the Image Database Reports as having eight non-free images on it. Since non-free images aren't allowed in userspace, these will have to go, but there are so many images on the page I guess you'd probably know which ones haven't got free licences (having said that, if it's a gallery of your own images, why have any got non-free tags at all? Or is it a glitch in the report?) Black Kite 22:06, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello, TonyTheTiger. I have two things to talk to you about regarding WP:CHICAGO.

  • 1)I noticed that you marked yourself as manager/director of WikiProject Chicago. From my expertise I understand that only coordinators aprise a roll in directing the project to where it needs to go. Even then, there is no hierarchy and/or leadership. By assuming manager/director you assume hierarchy and leadership.
  • 2)That aside, YOU will be featured in my WikiProject report to go to press sometime in April. The questions are located here. Please only answer the BOTTOM questions, as I am working on a report on WikiProject Mammals as well.

Thanks ever so much,

FAC

I've struck a few comments. But really, I'd advise you to withdraw, and start another peer review. I think the article still needs a lot of work. Zagalejo^^^ 07:35, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I was not aware of it, thanks for the heads up. I am pretty busy right now - not sure when I can take a look at it, may be a few days. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:30, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I'll take a look soon. Just wondering, is there any reason I can't simply delete my comments pertaining to resolved issues? I think that would make it easier for you to see the outstanding issues. Zagalejo^^^ 06:05, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Well, it doesn't seem like most of my concerns have been addressed, anyway. But when they are, would it be OK if I move the resolved issues to a subpage? I'm just trying to make things easier for you. I'm afraid that some of my comments will get lost in the thicket. Zagalejo^^^ 08:59, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hey Tony. I've conducted a GAN review for Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Please take a look at your convenience. Also, congrats on the FA passing for Inauguration of Barack Obama! I see now that it's been quite a journey for you getting it to FA. Well done! — Hunter Kahn 16:18, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

  • No problem. That works out well for you with the Wikicup anyway, so it's probably all for the best. I've been following your work on Joe Cada from the start, so I'm glad to see it progressing through the GA stage. If I can be of any help in that one, let me know. — Hunter Kahn 16:51, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Ice rink

Aye aye sir. You are welcome, by the way. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 17:27, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Two reference problems: 1) Through 2008, the ice rink was one of those operated as part of the parks on ice program by the Chicago Park District.[31] - the ref is to the current CPD page, which says nothing about running the MP rink. I went by your version and the accessdate and added 2008. Is this OK? I could not find the old page on the Internet Archive. 2) When it was originally planned in 2000, the ice rink was intended to replace activities that were then known as "Skate on State".[43] but ref 43 says nothing about Skate on State. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:11, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Academic All-America

Hi Tony- Thanks for creating the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans page. I like that you added the academic AA teams - I will go back and add them to the historical pages too. One question - would you have an issue if I removed the "college division" teams? We don't currently list the non-D1 All-America teams so it seems a bit out of place. I also may play around with the format if you're OK with that. Thanks again Rikster2 (talk) 14:22, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
