A kitten for you!

[edit]

Thank you for being part of the fight against vandalism on English Wikipedia, and being one of the top five most active pending changes reviewers in the last 30 days. Your hard work is very much appreciated, please keep it up.

You're quietly helping me ...?

[edit]

TheWikiToby, you seem to have done the needful to do archiving of various Talk conversations I've had. Thanks, though it would have been appreciated all the more if you'd called my attention to that, though I know I've been behind the curve in following through on your comment about the need for that.

Congratulations on your Defender of the Wiki barnstar, which I see just above my message here. Augnablik (talk) 07:46, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Augnablik I'm not sure what you're really talking about since I haven't been archiving any of your stuff. The Teahouse archiving is taken care of by a bot btw TheWikiToby (talk) 15:47, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't remember now where I saw a notification of my archived material and your name.
Wish I'd taken a screenshot. If ever I see it again. I will. Augnablik (talk) 17:05, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Guild of Copy Editors December 2024 Newsletter

[edit]
Guild of Copy Editors December 2024 Newsletter

Hello, and welcome to the December newsletter, a quarterly digest of Guild activities since September. If you no longer want this newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time; see below. If you'd like to be notified of upcoming drives and blitzes, and other GOCE activities, the best method is to add our announcements box to your watchlist.

Election news: The Guild's coordinators play an important role in the WikiProject, making sure nearly everything runs smoothly and on time. Editors in good standing (unblocked and without sanctions) are invited to nominate themselves or another editor to be a Guild coordinator (with their permission, of course) until 23:59 on 15 December (UTC). The voting phase begins at 00:01 on 16 December and runs until 23:59 on 31 December. Questions may be asked of candidates at any stage in the process. Elected coordinators will serve a six-month term from 1 January through 30 June.

Drive: In our September Backlog Elimination Drive, 67 editors signed up, 39 completed at least one copy edit, and between them they edited 682,696 words comprising 507 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: The October Copy Editing Blitz saw 16 editors sign-up, 15 of whom completed at least one copy edit. They edited 76,776 words comprising 35 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Drive: In our November Backlog Elimination Drive, 432,320 words in 151 articles were copy edited. Of the 54 users who signed up, 33 copy edited at least one article. Barnstars awarded are posted here.

Blitz: The December Blitz will begin at 00:00 on 15 December (UTC) and will end on 21 December at 23:59. Sign up here. Barnstars awarded will be posted here.

Progress report: As of 22:12, 7 December 2024 (UTC), GOCE copy editors have completed 333 requests since 1 January, and the backlog of tagged articles stands at 2,401 articles.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators, Dhtwiki, Miniapolis, Mox Eden and Wracking.

To stop receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Say what …?

[edit]

Hi, TheWikiToby. I just read your reply in the Teahouse, "FYI for passerbys, OP has put up the retirement banner 10 minutes after the first response for this." Wanted to understand but didn't. Could you translate for me?

BTW, it's passers-by. Augnablik (talk) 03:34, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can look at the OP's (Original Poster's) user page User:Caman9899. They put up the template signalling their account's retirement which means they intend to indefinitely pause all editing on that account. TheWikiToby (talk) 03:39, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Aha. Got it. Augnablik (talk) 03:47, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, TheWikiToby,

I don't know why you tagged this page for speedy deletion, CSD U1 is only for tagging your own User pages for deletion, not other editors'. You shouldn't have even been editing this page, please do not tag other editors' User pages for deletion unless CSD U5 applies or you want to tag them for an MFD discussion. But neither of those factors applied here. In general, it's best to edit within your own User space and leave other editors' alone. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 19:14, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz Hello Liz. The author opened a Teahouse thread asking for their sandbox and that page to be deleted, but did not know how to do so. I tagged it for them with an explanation in the template explaining why.
The custom text in the template is pretty hard to notice though since it's not differentiated from the background or default text in any way, so it's completely understandable to miss it. TheWikiToby (talk) 19:39, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion saying I didn't provide a reliable source.

[edit]

Hey, so you deleted a post in PayPal Honey for not having the correct or reliable sources. Whilst that is fair enough, you are mistaken for I am not the one who added the reference, I merely just edited part of the description, not adding the reference and simply just added a few words. I am not saying to add it back, I'm just saying you accused me of adding the thing without a proper reference, which was the previous user. FreckleTheCat (talk) 21:20, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @FreckleTheCat. While you didn't add the YouTube source, you still added information from that source, which is deprecated. The boilerplate template is used for both adding unreliable sources and adding content using unreliable sources. Sorry for the confusion! Tarlby (t) (c) 21:36, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
