What was it about my edit that didn't seem constructive?
Was is that I'm using an IP and you assumed that all IP editors are little kids vandalizing Wikipedia? 136.158.58.17 (talk) 06:51, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- 136.158.58.17 (talk · contribs), based on the history of M156 it was clearly you are the one changing the redirect from the highway into a car engine. From 2008 M156 has been redirecting to the highway, not the engine. The onus is on you to prove why that change was necessary or constructive. Based on [1] and [2] you also alleged that other editors are single purpose accounts, which is clearly not the case. I will revert any editors, IP or no IP, that change redirects of articles without consensus. You also remove my warning on your page, with an edit summary that is borderline harassment. Bottom line: You change redirect without consensus or discussion, which in my opinion, is my ground for reversion. SunDawn (talk) 07:05, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- I get it, you're new here. Can I suggest that you learn a little about Wikipedia policy before you start reverting people. Lesson number one - Wikipedia:DETERMINEPRIMARY read it, learn something and then understand why I changed the revert. Also, if you don't like my edit summary on my talk page, I have a great solution - don't post ignorant warnings there. 136.158.58.17 (talk) 07:09, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, we are all new here and we all need to learn something time to time. Either way, I agree that your edits are sound, which can be achieved by discussion instead of harassing other editors. Finally, harassment is not about liking or not liking. Placing an "ignorant" warning that can be removed after a discussion is not violation of policy, but harassment of other users is a clear violation of the policy.SunDawn (talk) 07:22, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Based on your edits and comments on your talk page, you don't know what you're talking about. Stop reverting people until you understand policy. 136.158.58.17 (talk) 07:24, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Your constant hounding on my talk page is clearly harassment. My first revert and its warning is made on good faith, and I admit that your edit is good. But of course, you can't tell me what to do with my time. SunDawn (talk) 07:30, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Houtzdale Borough Seal Section
Hello SunDawn, Thank you so much for moving the seal into the infobox, I couldn't figure out how to do that. Also the picture is no longer accurate as a new owner of that building has painted it green which is its historically accurate color. Could you direct me to an article that might help me learn to do those two things? Thanks again Zackmanb67 (talk) 17:51, 1 May 2021 (UTC)zackmanb67
- Hello zackmanb67 (talk · contribs). I have seen your talk page and the first thing you must do is to adhere to WP:COI and disclose your connection to the city, please see WP:COIDISCLOSEPAY as you most likely be paid by the city for your work. If you want, I can add the COI declaration for you. Concerning the image, first of all you have to make sure that it is copyright-free, I don't understand much about this but you can ask at WP:IMAGEHELP. Then, you can go to Wikipedia Commons to upload the image. To place it on the infobox, simply change the "Official Seal" field into your image, I can also help you on this. Thank you! SunDawn (talk) 01:08, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi SunDawn. So I want to apologize about the COI, it would appear as though I do get paid, as that is how it is in most Borough Councils. However, Houtzdale is different in that we actually have never voted to be paid. So I actually along with the other 6 members of the council donate our time even when we have been elected by the public. Most people would say we would have to have a screw loose to want to be in politics for free, but that's how we are. Hahaha. That all is beside the point though. I did want to mention that I thought I had made the seal image an upload in the Wikipedia commons but im not sure if I did or not. Thank you so much for the direction though, because that darn picture of the red building has been bugging me for years. I will try those directions though and let you know how it goes!! Thanks again!!! Zackmanb67 (talk) 01:38, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Zackmanb67
- UPDATE!! So I was able to read through how to do it from the links you shared, and I was able to change the picture, Yayyy!! I guess I should say I think I did it. Thanks again for your help. I will be sure to message you again if I need more assistance!! Thanks so much Zackmanb67 (talk) 02:37, 2 May 2021 (UTC)zackmanb67
- The picture is indeed way nicer! However, I think your COI still needs to be addressed. As you are not paid, a general COI template can be used on your userpage. This does not make it more difficult to edit. You can use WP:DCOI. If you need help, you can contact me.SunDawn (talk) 08:48, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

- Hi, I received a ping here but I cannot see where and why. It was a mistake?--Mhorg (talk) 11:11, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Mhorg (talk · contribs)! Sorry I moved your comments into a new section to keep it tidy. Maybe because this morning I accidentally use { instead of [ for WP:COI? Other than that I don't recall pinging you. Cheers! SunDawn (talk) 11:33, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Please keep an eye on this IP's edits
Thanks for reverting. I jokingly suggested vandalizing WP to a classmate, not expecting that he'd actually do it; he did. Please keep an eye on this IP's contribs page. 173.251.14.132 (talk) 15:11, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Eugenics Section Removal
There was a comment on the section that it was unfit for Wikipedia. It didn't seem like there was any feasible way to rewrite it, as whoever did was clearly just speaking emotionally, as if they weren't even on Wikipedia. There's no way to save the section, so it seems like there's nothing else to do but delete it. Wubbox (talk) 15:32, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Wubbox (talk · contribs)! The problem is that you delete section without explanation. The maintenance template does not state that content should be deleted, but content should be improved. The content now, as it stands now, is well referenced, well balanced, though still needs improvement. If you want to delete whole sections, you can ask first for consensus in the Talk page of the article. Thank you and happy editing! SunDawn (talk) 15:49, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

i am new to wikipedia and dont know how to send direct messages. my reasoning for removing the bit of the page was due to a teacher saying that I had just copied the assignment which is false. if possible I would like it to be left blank for only 2-3 days just until the final is graded. Essay deleted (talk) 05:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC) |
- Hello Essay deleted (talk · contribs) No worries, I can see your message alright. You can send message by going to user's talk page and then choose "New Section". On the other hand, your request can't be granted, because it is just impossible for a Wikipedia article to be blanked to allow someone to finish their work. And I am also very sure that your teacher would be really suspicious if he/she sees that an article is blanked. A quick look at the history of the page and one button later and the content will be reverted back to normal. If you don't copy the article for your assignment, I think your teacher would really be fine. There are multiple sites in the Internet that allows you (and your teacher) to check whether your paper is original or not, you can use that to check your own assignment. If you have any questions, please ask! Cheers! SunDawn (talk) 05:26, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Edits and additions Johan Teterissa and Pattimura
Pattimura First of all, I'm not disagreeing about the fact that Pattimura is a national hero of Indonesia. I've just added the fact that Indonesians are "considering" him as their nationale hero, while in fact (just like Martha Christina Tiahahu) they were of Moluccan descent and acted because of their Moluccans islands were being colonized by the Dutch. Pattimura wasn't Javanese, also he had never heard of Indonesians because there wasn't a Indonesian Republic in his time. Next to this, Pattimura came from Haria, Saparua...not Ambon.
Johan Teterissa In this case...Johan Teterissa died on December 4th, 2019. Off course he was an Indonesian by nationality, but in this case it's very important to know the fact he was an Indonesian civillian with Moluccan roots. He was a dissident to the Indonesian Republic and this is what got him the life sentence. The reason I'd removed the whole section about "Background of RMS" is because...first of all...it talks about RMS being mainly Christian, which is totally not true. But the most important fact that we've got a special Republic of South Maluku page where readers can read all the facts, while this section could be easily contaminated.
Last word...I'm not here to cause any vandalism, but only to give a complete picture because at the moment both the Pattimura as well as John Teterissa's wikipage are missing the big picture, namely the fact that they were fighting for a free homeland...which isn't Indonesia.Egdelwonkforewop (talk) 09:44, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Egdelwonkforewop (talk · contribs)! Good day to you! Concerning article of Johan Teterissa about the Background of RMS, I think your edit is good and should be deleted, as he is not RMS member anyway, but I disagreed with your comment that he is not Indonesian. I think the section could be removed, I will remove it. For next time, please do put summaries when you delete content, that way your deletion is not seen as unexplained.
- Concerning Pattimura, my problem with your edit is you removed him from Category:Indonesian Christians ven though he is clearly Indonesian, and that he is clearly Indonesian national hero, not just "considered as" national hero. Even Javanese heroes wouldn't hear about Indonesia that time, so your argument that Pattimura is not Indonesian is not accurate. Your edits for him coming from Harua is good, but I am not the one that change that. The only revert I made concerning Pattimura is this edit which is not talking about his origin. If you have any concerns, let us discuss! SunDawn (talk) 11:52, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
adbusters edit
this is an accuracy of language edit fixing phrasing. it does not need a citation. the way the article is phrased makes it seem as though only upper and middle class people can participate in this concept, which is clearly incorrect and probably not the intention of the author. do not revert edits without cause in the future

- Hello 2601:196:4A02:A530:8F8:ACFE:A51D:5543 (talk · contribs)! Good day to you! The problem I found with your edits is that "upper- and middle-class" is not the same with "complacent". It change the meaning, and not just a change of phrasing. However, I found that the whole sentence This text is different Others declare the movement an easy way for upper- and middle-class citizens to feel empowered by engaging in activism that bears no personal cost, such as the campaign "Buy Nothing Day" is unsourced anyway. I suggest to remove all of the sentence to make it better, what do you think? SunDawn (talk) 12:00, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Hey man thanks for the update on Milosh, I was trying to change the article as I know him personally. My apologies for not editing it properly I'm still a novice when it comes to wikipedia. Cheers.

Please do not delete contents without explanation, especially if you delete content that are well sourced and well referenced. And even if you know him personally, you can't use your own knowledge to add to the article, as it constituted original research that is prohibited in Wikipedia. Hey, I changed a reference link from a blog post on the appointment and the existence of a Swedish Phaleristics Association, to the site of the association where the appointment was visible. The source was removed because blogs are not reliable sources: however, this is not a blog but the website of the association, it uses the Wordpress platform. For this reason, I hope that it would be possible to undo your undoing of my reference link change, as it is the primary source. Cheers! 188.149.151.157 (talk) 15:25, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello 188.149.151.157 (talk · contribs)! Great day to you! I believe this is the diff we are talking about. The problem with Wordpress sites is that it is free, thus it does not establish much credibility, thus in my opinion, is not as trustworthy as legitimate .com sites. Is there any problem with the previous source so that you change the reference? If you have any question, please do ask! Good day to you! SunDawn (talk) 15:35, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Afd for Dharsha Gupta
Hi, I would like to create a afd discussion for Dharsha Gupta, which in my opinion fails WP:NACTOR. I was asked to come here User talk:2600:6C58:4B7F:6084:1994:1790:4070:5EB8 2600:6C58:4B7F:6084:1994:1790:4070:5EB8 (talk) 14:22, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello! I removed your AfD attempt there because you didn't do the steps correctly. The correct steps are in WP:AFDHOWTO and all steps have to be followed. The easier steps is to use Twinkle to do the AfD. If you have questions on how to create the AfD, please do ask! Cheers! SunDawn (talk) 16:26, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Socialist Campaign Group
You are absolutely correct; social democracy and democratic socialism are not the same thing.
As posted on the Labour Party (UK) talk page:
Democratic socialism is effectively dead within Labour. In the 1940s and 50s, "the left wing was not prepared to be satisfied with Keynesian modifications of capitalism." (Bevanism: A Philosophy for British Labour?), and that was the case even into the 1980s with the likes of Benn (though even then 'democratic socialism' would hardly have been prominent enough within the party for it to be listed as its ideology). Compare this to Corbyn's leadership, which was satisfied with Keynesian modifications of capitalism (as were his supporters).
In addition:
The Socialist Campaign Group, to no real extent, actually supports 'democratic socialism', as seen by even the remains of the old Benn-aligned fringe accepting the existing economic framework and seeking only social justice within it. The most that can be said is that it supports a 'radical' variant of social democracy, to the left of other social democrats. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.20.13.254 (talk) 01:59, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- To put it more succinctly, this is why I do the revert - because social democracy and democratic socialism are not the same thing. To do a major change such as party affiliation requires consensus, where I do not see any consensus yet on article's talk page. SunDawn (talk) 04:45, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
Courtesy notice - general sanctions for biographies and other topics
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
I see you're interested in multiple other areas under sanctions. Please take care. --Hipal (talk) 20:57, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Hipal (talk · contribs)! Thank you for your notice! I understand that the notice didn't imply any wrongdoing, but could you be more specific on why you think I am interested in BLP? Most of my edits recently is just reverts, and except for some one-two articles I didn't edit much about BLP. Thank you! SunDawn (talk) 06:35, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- I didn't think it necessary to try to list all the different areas with sanctions that you've edited recently, and BLP seems one of the more common areas. --Hipal (talk) 15:14, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you! I will be more careful on the sanctioned areas. However, I am curious on how you can know areas that I have been editing, could you please teach me how to see that?
Thanks again and have a nice day! SunDawn (talk) 15:24, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

- (talk page watcher) @Hipal:, I can see what SunDawn means here. You've left a really vague notice for them on "biographies and other topics". That basically covers everything someone would edit.--- Possibly (talk) 16:28, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- What's your point? Are you not familiar with these notices? --Hipal (talk) 18:50, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Possibly:. That's what I thought as well, as "multiple other areas other sanctions" and "BLPs" are too vague. As I stated before, most of my edits are vandalism reverts, I do not know whether that qualifies as "interest" or not. Regardless, I agreed with Hipal that I should be more careful around some contentious areas. SunDawn (talk) 04:54, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Warn before Welcome
I noticed that you warned a user that had not been welcomed yet. Imo this isn't a good idea because it can be seen as biting newcomers and we don't want to scare away new wikipedia editors who might have good intentions but don't quite understand Wikipedia's policies yet. Welcomes provide this information while warnings do not. If the user has been welcomed then you can warn them. Just something to think about. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 16:17, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
- I will keep it in mind. The problem is that in Huggle, there is no option to give "welcome" when reverting. There is an option in Huggle to provide welcome, and that is by marking those edits as "good", and it is not good at all. But I will try to give welcome first, especially if it doesn't look malicious. Thank you for your advice! SunDawn (talk) 16:22, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, SunDawn. There are welcome templates which also provide a gentle warning. See the templates in the 'specialized' section here. I don't use Huggle, so I don't know how accessible they are through it. You might want to ask the maintainers about adding the templates if they're not already there. Happy editing!
