A tag has been placed on Echostream, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, article #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Elomis 00:08, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Echostream

[edit]

Hey, just to clarify Wikipedia is not a place where you can look up anything and never was or will be, it has very, very clear guidelines about what are acceptable as encyclopedia articles. You might want to check WP:NOT for some starting points before you create an article (particularly before you edit copyrighted material in). If I can help out in any way please leave a message on my talk page. Elomis 00:21, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Echostream

[edit]

Hey mate,

1) I didn't delete your article, I'm not an admin and can't delete articles but I asked for it to be deleted which is something that I or anyone else can do. (in fact someone else asked as well after I had).

2) Echostream doesn't deserve to be in Wikipedia like other bands do, in fact the only bands that deserve to be in Wikipedia are those that are 'notable', there are rules for what sort of bands are allowed to be in Wikipedia here.

3) Absolutley nothing is allowed to be in Wikipedia which is copyvio, that is, stuff that is copied and pasted from another site without an assertion that you have permission to do it by the owner of that stuff, even then it's a bit thin.

In short Echostream can ONLY be on Wikipedia if they have had a charted hit on any national music chart, in at least one large or medium-sized country, has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one large or medium-sized country, have gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country, released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels, have been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media, or done a range of other things to mean they are important or significant. On top of all that the article has to prove that, with a reliable source.

Any further questions drop me a line. Elomis 00:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Flower01.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flower01.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:05, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Echostream (band), we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.focrec.com/es.cfm. As a copyright violation, Echostream (band) appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Echostream (band) has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Echostream (band) and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Echostream (band) with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Echostream (band).

However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. FreeKresge 06:05, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Echostream (band)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Echostream (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please do not recreate this article unless you can provide evidence of this band's notability. See the criteria for band inclusion at WP:BAND. An encyclopedia cannot include every band - only those signed by important labels or who have been covered by notable independent publications. Strangerer (Talk | Contribs) 22:49, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • WP:BAND states, "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that page.)" Have they performed the theme of the FX show Dirt? Have they won a major music award? Have they released two albums under a major label? Have they completed any of the requirements in WP:BAND? --Strangerer (Talk | Contribs) 18:23, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:180px-FFVIIAC-Tseng Turks.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:180px-FFVIIAC-Tseng Turks.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 22:51, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding unsourced information

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Oni-con, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add your reference to the article. Thank you. --Farix (Talk) 21:52, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
