Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."
You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page.--PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:28, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Notification of topic ban
[edit]Per the consensus here, I have enacted a topic ban wherein you are not allowed to apply maintenance tags to any articles or drafts. Note, this applies to all tags and not just your list nor the shortcuts. Any violation of this topic ban will lead to escalating blocks so I advise you to edit with caution. Star Mississippi 21:47, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Star Mississippi:, I shall do everything that I can to comply with the topic ban set forth. Cryptic has provided guidance [here] to assist me in determining which templates I should or should not use. --Jax 0677 (talk) 21:59, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Star Mississippi:, I just got a message from Andy Dingley. Am I allowed to discuss the addition of templates on a talk page? --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:17, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Belated, but I agree with @Floquenbeam here and the advice @Cryptic gave you as well as @Andy Dingley's first point: don't. While I wouldn't block you for discussing, it's a grey area where an admin wouldn't be wrong to do so if they thought you were using the Talk to get another editor to act as your proxy. Go work in another area entirely for a while, then try to learn where the disconnect is with your tagging and the community's views and then maybe consider requesting the ban be lifted. Star Mississippi 00:42, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Star Mississippi:, if WP:RM and Talk:10 Lives are not articles or drafts, would creating a request to move 10 Lives to 10 Lives (album) to preserve the album article history, then creating a request to delete 10 Lives to make room for 10 Lives (film) to be moved to it fall under the category of "maintenance tags"? I want to avoid making an inappropriate cut & paste move. Also, would adding {{split section}} or {{Split sections}} to Dvbbs be permissible, so that users viewing that page are alerted to the split discussion? Thanks! --Jax 0677 (talk) 15:39, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Apologies for the delay @Jax 0677, I was offline. I'd avoid the latter (split sections) but I would think the former is OK since you've done the necessary action in the move. Star Mississippi 23:48, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

- In case you're interested in drive-by feedback, Jax, I would strongly suggest not discussing adding templates on an article talk page. Even if technically, you're allowed to. It just brings you closer to the cliff edge. Just let it go, I'd suggest. Let article maintenance be someone else's problem for a long while, to prove to everyone you are not hyper-focused on the subject and might, eventually, be allowed to get involved again someday. Floquenbeam (talk) 23:09, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:11, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Would adding an "about" hatnote to Gunsmoke (album) to direct readers to Texas Hippie Coalition's similarly named upcoming album or "dab" to a disambiguation page such as Diwakar (disambiguation) be OK? Also, am I permitted to convert bare URLs into properly formatted references or initiate move requests? Part of me is afraid that writing out the contents of a template might not be prudent. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:13, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Star Mississippi:, would I be allowed to use the "reflist" template? --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:28, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oops missed your prior. Not sure about the dab, but reflist is OK as that's a clear improvement. You've done the work and aren't asking someone else to. Star Mississippi 18:13, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- What about hat notes, converting bare urls and move requests? --Jax 0677 (talk) 20:17, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'd stay away from the latter two as you're telling others to do a certain thing. It's not 100% a no, but grey enough area that it could be disruptive. Star Mississippi 00:06, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, for now, per your advice, I will post bare urls between "ref" tags and allow others to convert them to proper citations, like I did with Wake Up the Wicked. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:06, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- No. sorry I thought you meant you would convert them. If you're just going to leave them partially done, I think that's an issue with the topic ban. Either fully convert them to a reference (and there's no reason not to with the scripts that take the URL and do it) or don't touch them at all. Star Mississippi 15:18, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- My plan is to add the URL between the "ref" tags, then convert them to proper citations when I am at logged on to Wikipedia via an actual conputer. I was afraid that "citeweb" might be considered a maintenance template. Thanks. --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:01, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- No, citeweb/news/journal/etc. is the actual completion of the edit. Putting it between ref tags is not an improvement over a bare URL. Just leave it as is until you get to a computer. Star Mississippi 16:07, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- Is my using {{histmerge}} to connect the histories of Rajput (surname) and Rajput (disambiguation) permissible? --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:30, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- No, you're still requesting someone to do work on your behalf. If you cannot complete the task, please do not add a template (it doesn't matter which) Star Mississippi 14:53, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks (only administrators can perform history merges, so I assume that we shall leave that be)! --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:55, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

- Apologies for the delay @Jax 0677 as I was offline for the holidays. It appears this has since been resolved and I'm not sure whether it would have been OK. I would think no since from the documentation it's asking someone to prioritize that discussion. Star Mississippi 11:49, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

- Hello, Jax 0677,
- Do not create articles on non-notable subjects just to repeat baseless rumors about them. This violates our BLP guidelines and serves no encyclopedic purpose. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:59, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
C'mon, man, you know better than that...

Whack! You've been whacked with a wet trout. Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly. |

He Is Legend
[edit]Why did you revert my edit to the He Is Legend template adding their two newest albums to it? Kronos o (talk) 11:51, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Kronos o:, Please link to the article in question when posting on a talk page. One link went to an animal, the other went to the band (WP:WTAF). --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:48, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
Suspect's name
[edit]You may want to edit the article with a search on the last name, as your edit left a few examples. (I'm keeping an eye on my own 3RR status at the moment.) -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:34, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NatGertler:, I do not completely understand your comment. Can you please elaborate? --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:36, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- You just did an edit on Killing of Austin Metcalf to remove the name of the suspect... but the suspect's last name still appears multiple times in the text. If you open it for editiing and use your browser's "Find" command to search for the suspect's last name, it should find other places. I am avoiding doing reversion-like edits myself out of concerns of violation the edit-warring rule that places a three-reversion limit in a 24 hour period, WP:3RR. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:39, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NatGertler:, thank you for your message. I understand your concern. However, if I remove the name from the URL, the URL will not function properly. With that being said, what do you suggest? Also, in the future, when you post on a talk page, please link to the article in question. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:43, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I wasn't talking about the URLs, I was talking about the visible text of the article in question. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:46, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NatGertler:, I have put in a Request for Page Protection. To avoid an edit war, the next step might be a Request for Comment. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:33, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Admin, I’m new to Wikipedia editing and still learning the process. I’ve created a draft article titled Draft:Vastav AI and would be grateful if you could kindly review it.
