Question from TXLegeWonk (23:29, 26 March 2025)
[edit]My recent edit got tagged as having a circular source because I linked to a couple of other Wiki articles, but in this case where they are providing background, it seems illogical *not* to link those. What would have been the preferred citation? --TXLegeWonk (talk) 23:29, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @TXLegeWonk - it really depends on how much summarising you need to do, but you can't use another Wikipedia article as a citation. You can link to the article as a subheading, you can take text and paraphase with the sources used to support that material in the other article (verifying of course that the sources support the statements you are using). But one of the sine qua nons of Wikipedia is we are not reliable, we cannot rely on ourselves! Can you link me to what it is you are trying to do? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 23:41, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Got it! That makes sense. I think I resolved how to refer to the page. It just needed a link to the article, not to appear as a reference link. Here is the update; please LMK if the change is suitable. TIA! TXLegeWonk (talk) 20:39, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @TXLegeWonk - glad you worked it out, that looks better. Just one technical correction, single brackets [ ] are used for external linking and should not be used within the article text. When you want to create a blue link to another article in English Wikipedia you use double brackets and only include the title of the article: [[Texans for a Republican Majority]] produces Texans for a Republican Majority. I made the change for you and did a little copy editing. Kind regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 21:30, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, appreciate the assist! TXLegeWonk (talk) 14:49, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Why Did You Prematurely Delete the Page "Lola Adeyemi"?
[edit]The deletion discussion for "Lola Adeyemi" was relisted to allow for more thorough discussion and to reach a clearer consensus. Yet, despite this, you deleted the page just four days after the relisting. This action bypassed the relisting process and ignored the opportunity for further input that the relist was meant to generate.
I had prepared detailed responses to the delete votes and what I believe are false claims made during the discussion. These responses are vital for establishing the subject's notability and addressing the concerns raised. By deleting the page prematurely, you undermined the process, WP:GTD and denied the community the chance for proper deliberation.
I am requesting that you restore the page immediately and allow the discussion to proceed as intended. If not, I expect a clear explanation for this premature deletion and why the relisting process was disregarded. Ahola .O (talk) 15:31, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Goldsztajn Ahola .O (talk) 15:33, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Ahola .O - I left a reply to you on Mojo Hand's talk page regarding the timing of my close, but I will add a few words here about the substance of my close. Among all the particpants in the discussion, yours was the only firm intervention to keep. It was indicative, but not determinative, that the only other keep contribution started out as weak and subsequently changed to a weak delete as the discussion developed. All other participants firmly supported delete with analysis that refuted the reliability of the sourcing. I do not see any other way in which the discussion could have been closed. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 21:58, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
(comment copied from Mojo Hand's talk page) --Goldsztajn (talk) 20:57, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Hello Goldsztajn you had no role in the ongoing discussion, which raises significant questions about whether the action was procedurally appropriate or influenced by external factors. I had made other edits because I was in the process of gathering more information to support my response in the discussion. Despite this, baseless claims were made suggesting that I am a paid editor, which is unfounded and unwarranted. I have already have references for the "Early life and education" section of the page, supporting its content. I am requesting that the page be restored immediately so that the deletion discussion can proceed and complete the intended 14-day period for community input, as per Wikipedia's process. Premature deletion violates the principles of transparency and fair decision-making. Thank you! Ahola .O (talk) 10:59, 29 March 2025
- Hi @Ahola .O:. First, An administrator closing a deletion discussion is not meant to have any role in the discussion; if they had advocated in the discussion they would be considered WP:INVOLVED and this would preclude them from closing. An editor or administrator relisting a discussion does not mean the discussion "belongs" to them (or they are involved), general practice is that relisters and closers are different more often than not. Second, with reference to premature closing, please be aware of the text of the deletion guideline on relisting (WP:RELIST): "A relisted discussion may be closed once consensus is determined, without necessarily waiting for another seven days." Third, in the discussion following the relist there was a substantial strengthening of the consensus to delete. The sourcing you had offerred was reanalysed by multiple new participants and rejected for not satisfying significant coverage (which emphasises analysis of a subject, not its mere description). As I noted above, I do not see any other way in which I could have closed the discussion. You have three options, (1) accept the decision and work on other parts of the encyclopaedia, (2) request an administrator at WP:REFUND to restore a copy to draft space (this can be refused) where it would have to go through the articles for creation process, or (3) make an appeal at deletion review. In terms of the last option, deletion review does not consider new material, it only will examine the close itself. Regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 22:01, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Goldsztajn Ahola .O (talk) 05:57, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- I totally understand and I am familiar with these processes. But why can't the page be allowed for 2-3 more days? I already explained the reason I didn't immediately address some of the issues—I was gathering more information to strengthen my response. Setting aside the consensus for a moment, let's focus on the page itself. Does it genuinely warrant deletion? I have gathered verified references, including the "Early life and education" section, to substantiate the content.
- If the page had been created by another editor, it’s clear that it wouldn't have been nominated for deletion in the first place and definitely won't be facing this degree of scrutiny. Yet, because I created it, I am now subjected to baseless accusations of being a paid editor. These claims are unfounded, and I am determined to prove that I am not. Restoring the page for even just one or two days would allow other editors to review it independently and fairly. This could change the direction of the discussion, with editors potentially seeing the same merits I do and voting to Keep.
- I am requesting that the page be restored for just a day or 2 so that it can give other editors a chance to vote. Thank you Ahola .O (talk) 06:15, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Ahola .O - with respect, I cannot overturn a decision for you personally, with no basis in policy or guidelines that is also against seven other editors who analysed the article and its sources and supported delete with refrence to policy and guidelines. If I reopened the discussion I would be treating the views of seven other editors, who made a case in conformity to policy and guidelines, less valuably than a single editor making a personal appeal. Only from your statements following my closure have I any awareness of accusations of you being a paid editor. If I can offer some small advice, if you want to dispell such notions in others' minds, the best thing you can do is focus on improving already existing articles for at least a couple of months. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 11:44, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Gronlandista (21:03, 28 March 2025)
[edit]Hello There, Started editing, making minor changes, but might have checked the 'minor edit' box in error on my last edit, as I also added additional information. Is it possible for me to untick the minor edit box once my edits are published? Thank you in advance. --Gronlandista (talk) 21:03, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Gronlandista, welcome. It's not possible to change the edit, but in a situation like that, what you can do is make another immediate edit with no changes and then insert into the edit description some words along the lines of "previous edit mistakenly flagged as minor, but included changes to the text concerning XXX". - Hi @Polygnotus - LOL... this is "moving on"? I'll take it with the humour with which it was created. Neverthless, as my very first trout in almost 19 years I'm framing it and hanging it on the wall. Kind regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:11, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- You didn't understand my response. I wasn't describing what I was doing. I was explaining what you should've done. Your response here does not have the level of maturity expected of an admin, and that kinda sucks because I voted support. Pro tip: if someone criticizes you, never respond quickly and emotionally. Hello
I'm looking to add to Wikipedia the information about my company; how can I do this?
Thank you --Leviars (talk) 16:19, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Leviars - apologies for a slightly delayed reply. In this situation you have a conflict of interest and the best practice is not add information at all, but to request the information be added. Does the company already have an article? If so, you can leave the requests at the talk page of the company. If it does not have an article, it would need to satisfy the criteria outlined in WP:NCORP to have one. Please be conscious that the requirement for reliable sources is very important, press releases or websites repeating information about the company cannot be used to establish notability. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:17, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

I came across this AFD discussion on the daily log page, noticed that it was closed incorrectly so I reverted that action. Question from Avaidya1729 (01:18, 10 April 2025)
[edit]Hi, I have recently made some changes to a page. But I need to Mark it as Patrolled to remove the No index tag from this page. However, I can't seem to find that option when I review the page. Is that because I am a new editor? --Avaidya1729 (talk) 01:18, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Avaidya1729 - yes, as a new editor you cannot "patrol" (review) articles - you need to be granted New Page Reviewer status, which requires being a registered user for at least 90 days and with at least 500 undeleted mainspace edits. Do you have any connection (personal, financial, other?) to the articles you edited? If so, you should declare that you have a potential conflict of interest. In general, where one has a conflict of interest, one should make requests for changes via the talk page, rather than making them oneself. Let me know if you have any other questions. Question from Wardah Wadood (02:33, 16 April 2025)
[edit]hi. I’m working on a draft article for our company and would really appreciate feedback from experienced editors. While ive tried to stick to the guidelines, our challenge is limited independent sources. Would anyone be willing to help me refine this to make sure it gets accepted. Thanks. Below is my draft.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:I4T_Global --Wardah Wadood (talk) 02:33, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Wardah Wadood - I can help you with questions about the different criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia, but in this case I cannot help edit the article itself. The criteria for companies to be included in Wikipedia is explained in WP:NCORP. Sources have to be independent and do more than repeat information about the company. Unfortunately, if there are no independent reliable sources that provide analysis about the company, then it will not be considered notable for the purposes of Wikipedia. Hi Goldsztajn, trust you're well. I do not think this is a soft delete consensus as I do not think it falls within the range of "minimal participation". Wdyt? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:54, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Vanderwaalforces doing ok, hope you are, too! I read it as a soft delete because "minimal participation" reflects both numerical and qualitative measures. In a case where numerically the participation is low (ie nomination plus a few !votes) if the actual substance of the contributions is also minimal (or weak), then I see this satisfying soft deletion. Conversely, a nomination with a single !vote could have detailed source analysis, extensive discussion of BEFORE processes and thorough application of P&Gs to the nomination - which would lead me to delete rather than soft deletion. I don't have an absolute number for "minimal" - but this was on the threshold of being numerically minimal, however, in terms of analysis, it was absolutely minimal. One !vote was an assertion based on past practice which could somewhat generously be said to be a wave at WP:POLOUTCOMES, but with no detail. The other alluded to sourcing problems related to India, but the subject of the nomination was Iraqi, so I substantially discounted this contribution. That said, there was no discussion whatsoever that the article should be kept - so to my reading we have a consensus that the article should not be in Wikipedia at present, but not a clear consensus that notability is lacking, hence soft deletion. Hope that helps? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:28, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- The outcome of this nomination of yours is a useful comparison between delete and soft delete with reference to minimal participation: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Darnelda Siegers. Just to be clear, I agree the closure as delete, it wasn't minimal participation. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:52, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

Do you do this full time? --Dotowl (talk) 05:38, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Dotowl - no, not full-time at all. I usually do some work on Wikipedia almost every day, but it is far from full-time. Feel free to ask me any questions about editing. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 05:48, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
If i'm adding a link to a text or updating a link , is that a minor edit? I saw a check box. What about improving the context around that link i'm adding, is that still a minor edit? --Dotowl (talk) 06:02, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Dotowl. A minor edit is something that does not effectively make any change, more like a correction (eg a misspelling, or punctuation error). So, changing context around a link would not be a minor change. In terms of updating a link, be a little careful if you are talking about redirects - for example, if the oriinal link is to a redirect, it should not be changed to remove the redirect and replaced with the final destination. For more informaiton on redirects, have a look here: WP:REDIRECT. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 06:12, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!

Question from Elfishhenry (07:59, 9 May 2025)
[edit]Hi, how are you, can I ask a question?
How do I edit or add citations to verification failed or citation needed. --Elfishhenry (talk) 07:59, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Elfishhenry - I've left some links on your talk page. In terms of dealing with a citation needed or verification failed issue, you need to find a reliable source that supports the information that has been tagged and insert that into the article. In general, you should use the referencing system that is already in use in the article. Have a look at the links on your talk page which introduce editing, for referencing you can read this: WP:REFERENCE or this in more simplified form: Help:Referencing for beginners. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 09:27, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Foodpolicywriter (19:00, 12 May 2025)
[edit]Hey there, I would like to create a Wikipedia page - could you please help me navigate this --Foodpolicywriter (talk) 19:00, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Foodpolicywriter - I see you have made a number of attempts to crate an article. In general the best way to get started with Wikipedia from an editing perspective is to work on articles which have already been created. You can improve articles by expanding their scope, copyediting, adding references etc. New articles have to comply with Wikipedia's policies related to notability and reliable sourcing. It is also important not to use LLM robots to create articles. Let me know if I can help any further. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 03:14, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello how do I create a wiki about someone --Xtrades (talk) 15:40, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Xtrades - I can see you are using the drafting process to create an article. This is a good way to start. As you are drafting an article about a football player, please be aware of the guideline: WP:NSPORTS. This indicates that there must be reliable sources with significant coverage for an article on an athlete to appear in Wikipedia. Also, for the infobox for a footballer, you can use this: Template:Infobox football biography. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:26, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

how does one create a page for an artist , like a DJ or producer --Djkueba (talk) 19:41, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Djkueba - there's a set of links on your talk page about editing Wikipedia. If you are interested in creating an article about somebody, there must be independent reliable sources which can be used to verify their notability (which is how Wikipedia determines whether or not a subject merits inclusion). It's also important to understand Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest if you are editing about someone or something with which you have a relationship. Let me know if you have any other questions. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 22:34, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for being my mentor.
I have a question: I have translated an article from Italian that didn't exist in English (Italian is my mothertongue, I didn't use any AI tool).
It's published under my namespace: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AWilk10%2FMassimo_Brunello&wvprov=sticky-header (he's the only coach that doesn't have a page in English in his championship, which is a top tier club competition: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024%E2%80%9325_United_Rugby_Championship).
Is it possible to publish it overall as a public Wikipedia page? When I started the translation the tool told me this functionality is limited to only experienced editors. Is there any chance someone can review it and see if it's good enough? How is the procedure?
Thanks a lot! --Wilk10 (talk) 18:53, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
