Your edit to Ancient Roman units of measurement
[edit]Unfortunately I had to revert your edit to Ancient Roman units of measurement. I recognise your wp:good faith in adding it be the problem is that the source you cited is not a wp:reliable source. As a pre-print, it is considered self published source until it is accepted by a peer-reviewed journal or at least a major newspaper with a reputation for reliable reporting acknowledges it. Of course if and when that test is passed, you can and should reinstate your edit.
This is intrinsic in the way that Wikipedia works: we don't have long discussions before updating an article, anybody can add or change material in good faith but it is on the understanding that other editors may not be content and will revert. The proposal can then move to the article talk page so that a consensus can be reached on whether or how it should be applied to the article.
If you disagree with my logic, please start a new topic at talk:Ancient Roman units of measurement . If you want a second opinion on what I've written, please ask at The Teahouse.
Again, welcome. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 18:21, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
