London Overground Colours
[edit]The colours of the London Overground were recently defined by TfL, and direct translations of Pantone colours were chosen because they were more stable than TfL's provided values. For more information, see User talk:Sameboat#London overground line colours and commons:Template:London transit icons for more information. --Minoa (talk) 09:48, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Fantastic. Great to see the colours have now been published. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:55, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
Posting personal names
[edit]Are people allowed to post about individual personal names on Wikipedia without the persons express permission first? Mister C 2024 (talk) 17:59, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- That's a really good question. My straightforward answer is you don't need their permission. However, whether you should actually do it in the first place, i.e. the privacy of living people is a huge topic. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Presumption_in_favor_of_privacy and if you have any questions - believe me I'm not the one to ask more - go to the Teahouse and ask, or see if there are specialist resources pointed out in that article. 10mmsocket (talk) 21:02, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. Would you also be able to point me in the right direction to complain to someone higher about Wikipedia Moderators taking sides with someone who is deliberately trying to defame someone including Libel against a company with untrue accusations please?
- Many thanks, Mister C 2024 (talk) 21:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Waaaaay outside my sphere of knowledge. Perhaps here - Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee? Read and send them an email (which ensures that whatever you're saying can't be seen by other Wikipedia users) 10mmsocket (talk) 21:25, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. Mister C 2024 (talk) 21:27, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Mister C 2024: Please ensure that you are in compliance with our policy on no legal threats. It's the fastest way to get blocked. You will also want to review Article subject FAQ and our guide on conflict of interests.
- @10mmsocket: Oversight is a very strong, very specific arm only to remove the most egregious violations. This does not qualify, and this doesn't even need standard administrative intervention. As you see above I'm linking them to relevant information. WP:BITE applies. Please don't drop emergency pings and run when you have concerns that need review, or are especially unclear, as it hinders us making an effective response and in this case educating you. -- Amanda (she/her) 22:30, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Amanda. There are no legal threats at this time. However, when a user is posting untrue information which is defaming including of a libel nature by making accusations on another talk thread. We should be allowed to not only defend our position but also ask the most appropriate action forward. These are not threats, these are questions to enable us to protect our company and brand which we will defend from users of an aggressive nature.
- I have never been aggressive in my approach, however; when my post is removed, but another users post is allowed to stay on the same talk thread that is untrue and defaming I think is very unfair.
- I would think as the world leading encyclopaedia organisation, your customer service skills would not start with threatening to ban my account on the principle of trying to protect myself and ask questions regarding users of a bullying nature.
