Regarding Pilots and New Jedi Order
[edit]I've just added the few names from the books' 'Dramatis Personae' lists, as I have no desire to read through all nineteen novels at this point in time for other names and information. Someone else can elaborate what's there and add to it. Saberwyn 02:49, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
Doran Kruton
[edit]Stop taking off Doran. He is a verifiable pilot in Star Wars. He is in Battlefront and in the movies.'commander 22:13, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- He's still on, but he's not really that notable anyway. – Mipadi 04:22, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, sorry I missed him. 'commander 20:13, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi: over on Wookieepedia, it's been pointed out that Doran Kruton is just a name the game gives to random NPC pilots in the game, so his existence in Star Wars canon is questionable, and any attempt to pin down what he did is very uncertain. Someone also said it was spelled Krotan, not Kruton. We're likely going to delete or heavily rewrite our article there, possibly by moving it to "List of automatically generated NPC names in Star Wars:Battlefront" and adding other names. However, I suspect you need to remove him entirely from this article. —Silly Dan (talk) 20:18, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Duron Voltros
[edit]My research has shown that the recently-added pilot "Duron Voltros" is the online persona of a KOTOR fan; I have deleted references to this pilot from the article. – Mipadi 16:09, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Garvin "Dave" Dreis or Garven Dreis
[edit]He is listed as Garven Dreis in the List of minor Rebel Characters in Star Wars. Which is correct? --Funkmaster 801 06:19, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
List of Rogue Squadron pilots
[edit]Since the pilot entries on this page often get linked to, and because the articles for Rogue Squadron pilots are spread across several articles and Star Wars lists, I would like to replace the pilots section with a separate article called List of Rogue Squadron pilots. I'm currently working on an article and it's mostly done, but I'd like some feedback on the work. Could some editors leave comments about the page? The working copy is located here: User:Mipadi/List of Rogue Squadron pilots. Please leave comments on that page's talk page. Thanks a lot! – Mipadi 16:41, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think more of those could be split off into main articles with a bit of work, but other than that, seems like a good idea. --maru (talk) contribs 17:57, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- Which ones specifically? Aside from the ones that are already main articles, not many of them seem to warrant their own article. – Mipadi 20:35, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- Tycho, Biggs, Erisi &etc... You want a complete list? --maru (talk) contribs 21:33, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- Biggs might warrant his own article, although he's never had one and I think it's fine to lump him in with others. I don't really think Tycho and Erisi need their own, though—they're hardly known outside of Star Wars or even in the general Star Wars community. – Mipadi 21:59, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed. Things like this can be voted on once the wikiproject gets up, although I see no problem in posting the list now :) Deckiller 22:08, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- what do you mean tycho does not deserve his own article. he is a key character in all the stackpole xwing books and we learn that in i jedi he has bee promoted to command of rogue squadron and can someone tell me why jaina solo doesn't have an article
- You mean this Jaina Solo? – Mipadi 23:02, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- While I agree this list should be kept short, I think some of the movie extras who did nothing but die screaming in flames should be replaced with comic character who played a large part in the series, and who have continued to appear in the Star Wars universe. Nick Fel 18:05, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Clean up
[edit]This article is getting unwieldy. Not only is the list of pilots long, but just the TOC to show the list of pilots is long, too. Furthermore, the pilots section contains a lot of pilots that are not notable and do not really belong in the article. I think it's a good idea to have a brief list of some notable Rogue Squadron pilots, but there's no need to list, with a brief description, every pilot that has served in Rogue Squadron. It's not encyclopedic, nor does it meet Wikipedia's fiction guidelines.
That is why I have prepared an edit of the article. It cleans up the list a bit and makes it more of a list, rather than a long list of various sections. The pilots are alphabetized. Articles note when the pilot joined Rogue Squadron, along with other important information. Pilots with articles elsewhere have links as well. Let me know what you think. Please leave comments on the edit page's talk page. Thanks. –Mipadi 17:46, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's an excellent idea. Also, we might want to put this proposition and discussion on Wikipedia:WikiProject Star Wars/things to do. Deckiller 17:48, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Now I feel that work (or what little i did) that I did for this article is now a waste of time. Could we at least retrieve the bios of the less notable pilots and give/move them their own article, perhaps a "List of minor Rogue Squadron pilots" article.
- Well, with all due respect, Wikipedia isn't really about having an article for every minor character in works of fiction. Unless the pilot was notable, I don't see the point of having information. Even some of the pilots retained are of arguable merit to the Star Wars universe. – Mipadi 23:00, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- By the way I meant all the minor pilot bios in one article not a seperate article for each one.
- "Do we need a page of entries for minor, unimportant Rogue Squadron pilots?" is the question. – Mipadi 04:35, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- The important question here is, "Is the information preserved?" We can ask whether we should have the data once we can answer in the affirmative, "Does either Wookieepedia or Wikipedia have the data?" --maru (talk) contribs 04:42, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- I never said that we needed the section. It was only a suggestion. ––Adamv88 00:45, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
Ooryl
[edit]I've been looking for a picture of a Gand so when I'm reading about Ooryl I know what he (or his species) looks like.
Any ideas?
D'uh...found it. - CaSS
Baron Fel and Aggressor Wing
[edit]The TIE ace and Imperial legend was captured and later defected to Rogue Squadron. Why isen't he in there? Rogue Squadron also worked hard with Aggressor Wing lead by Salm (a group of attack Y-Wings that contributed to many of Rogue Squadron's missions). Aggressor Wing even saved Rogue Squadron on the failed mission of Sate. I think they are worth mentioning AWP_Lizard
- Fel is talked about here. – Mipadi 19:49, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- He may be mentioned there, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be here too. Biggs Darklighter, for example, is on this list and a list of minor rebels. Nick Fel 11:05, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Kasan Moor
[edit]It says that Kasan Moor was an Imperial pilot in the 128th Tie Interceptor Squadron, "The Best of the Best." I thought the 181st Tie Fighter Squadron was the elite, who Baron Fel was a legendary member of. (They even had custom red stripes on their interceptor panels.) User:Hibbidyhai
- Wedge refers to the 128th as "the best of the best" in the first Rogue Squadron video game for the N64, although the 181st is considered (in the novels and comic books) to consist of the upper echelon of Imperial pilots. – Mipadi 21:14, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup part 2
[edit]I'm working on rewriting this article so it takes a more "out-of-universe" perspective. Unfortunately, not all the pieces are there yet. It would be great if other editors could help out by expanding the "Concept and creation" section, work on the "History" section, and expand some pilot bios (without going overboard), especially with an eye towards making it more "out of universe". As always, more references would be awesome, too. – Mipadi 14:34, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Crix Madine
[edit]I remember him being rescued by Kyle Katarn in Dark Forces, yet it says Rogue Squadron saved him in this article. Am I misremembering Dark Forces, or is a direct contradiction here? –Xoid 14:49, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Possible contradiction. I've never actually played Dark Forces (well, not more than a few demo levels), but I do know that Madine is rescued by Rogue Squadron in one of the early missions of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the Nintendo 64. – Mipadi 15:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Seems you learn something new everyday. From Crix Madine's article: "…after the Battle of Yavin he was captured by General Rom Mohc and imprisoned in Orinackra for execution. Upon learning of his capture, Mon Mothma dispatched Kyle Katarn to rescue Madine, who revealed Mohc's role in the project. He also provided the Alliance with intelligence on two subsequent targets to sabotage the Dark Trooper project. After slipping back to his homeworld of Corellia, Madine's defection was intercepted once more by Imperial forces, but the timely arrival of Rogue Squadron allowed him to escape." –Xoid 15:08, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- To be honest, that seems like a bit of a retcon. I'm loathe to treat video games as legitimate pieces of the Star Wars Expanded Universe and therefore take any plot elements with a grain of salt, but the consensus seems to be that they depict legitimate events in the EU. – Mipadi 17:18, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Death of Porkins
[edit]Despite what was initially stated in the article and what others may want to believe, Porkins did not crash into the Death Star. His X-Wing exploded in flight. We have it on the highest authority here [1]. And I quote:
His fighter was hit by the Imperial weapons emplacement, bursting into fiery fragments, and killing Porkins immediately.
Alcarillo 20:55, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- There are numerous novels, including the X-wing series, that disagree; in fact, there's a big discussion about it in Rogue Squadron. I guess maybe the Star Wars databank could be said to have the last word, but the EU novels are accepted as canon, and they state otherwise. – Mipadi 21:08, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Take a look at the article about Star Wars Canon. The movies are G-canon, while the EU is C-canon, which would mean that Porkins didn't crash. -hobbie 06:22, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- I argue that the canon debate really doesn't matter. One only needs to watch the movie for evidence; in the film, he clearly crashes. He may have been hit by a gun emplacement, but the hit wasn't fatal, since he attempts to pull out of the dive ("Pull up!" says Biggs); this is further backed up by a discussion by Wedge in Rogue Squadron by Michael A. Stackpole. It's really not a big deal, but a crash is fairly evident in both the movies (so-called "G-canon") and the books ("C-canon"). – Mipadi 07:03, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Gavin Darklighter
[edit]Forgive me if I'm wrong here, but I've been unable to find a specific article on, or a mention in here of Gavin Darklighter. It seems like he'd be a pretty notable character for the squadron, given that at the time of the Yuuzhan Vong war he's in command of it, and had some pretty notable actions prior to the Vong war. He might not be as deserving of his own article as say, Corran Horn or even Tycho Celchu, but he should at least have a section listed on the Rogue Squadron page, no?

Derek Klivian
[edit]Is his named based on Derek and Clive? Sophie means wisdom (talk) 19:53, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- If that's been suggested or hinted at anywhere out there, I imagine it'd appear at Hobbie's Wookieepedia page ... and, it doesn't. Might be worth a tweet to Leland Chee or the folks at Lucasfilm. --EEMIV (talk) 20:21, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
Proposed Split
[edit]It has been suggested that this page be split into pages titled Rogue Squadron (Star Wars fighting unit) and Rogue Squadron (film). (discuss) |

- The standard procedure is to create new articles for film/TV productions once they start filming. Cheers, UpdateNerd (talk) 07:49, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
