PP. 33 ff. in this paper give Oea the name Makaraía (Ancient Greek: Μακαραία) and derives it from Punic WY'T M'QR. — LlywelynII 14:53, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If Phoenicians settled in Most of North Africa, that being Carthage, Sabratha, Tripoli, Leptis, etc, And so bringing their cultures and religions with them, Today in Tunisia and in berber culture, There are remnants and mentions of the Goddess "Tanit" ( Unconfirmed link between Tanit and Ashtarte ), Then if that is so, then this means that Phoenicians must be indeed ( in modern terms atleast ) original 'Jews' from that region. If Phoenicians traveled from Byblos ( Assumingly ) at around 800 BC, then that means that Phoenicians that traveled to North Africa are indeed Canaanite settlers. The reason for this is that the Amazigh peoples of North Africa still consider Tanit as an important figure, albeit the culture dying, and may be original descendants originating from Canaan peoples, in other words, Original jews. - This is supported by DNA tests on some Amazighi people showing reference to that specific region, and is remarkable. -- anonymous.

Isn't OEA Tripolitania itself?

[edit]

Oea is Tripolitania, not a separate entity to Tripolitania. This was the original name for the city. I believe. Biomax20 (talk) 08:04, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
