Draft article

Dear CFA, Due to your severe personal bias against the subject of the article "Kalin Stefanov (Backgammon player)", I kindly ask you to never again review, edit, or even open the said article! Kalinators (talk) 23:00, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your latest comment is "no improvements since last decline".
So, adding an additional 3 independent media reporting about the subject, to the already existing 3, adding a further achievement of the subject, is "no improvements"?
Mate, if you have any honor in yourself, you will not again touch the article. Otherwise, you are just telling clear lies which everyone can see are not true. Kalinators (talk) 23:02, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Geez, being an AFC reviewer is a thankless task. Liz Read! Talk! 02:25, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft : Michael Beil

Thank you for reviewing my draft article on Michael Beil (Draft:Michael Beil). I read that the submission was declined. Could you perhaps elaborate a bit on the two critiques? I have already, as you requested, removed the external links from the main text.

  1. I've been working very hard on supporting every statement in the article with reliable sources. Could you please point out some examples of statements or passages that are not adequately supported and/or sources that are not considered reliable?

2. I've be sifting through the article (and had several colleagues of mine read it) in search for peacock terms, promotional tone or language that is otherwise not neutral, and I can't find out what seems to be so problematic. I do admit that the text isn't bone dry, but I've read many Wikipedia articles on classical composers and their music that aren't. If you see any problematic wording, could you please point out one or two examples?

As you can see, I've been working on the article for a very long time and I would really like to see it published.

Thank you for your advice!

All the best RDiependaele (talk) 20:28, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@RDiependaele: Hi, right now your draft reads like an essay. Personal interpretations and analysis do not belong in Wikipedia articles (e.g.: The realization of such compositions also requires complex production conditions, and very disciplined actions and skilled theatricality on the part of the musicians. Therefore, they are usually created in close collaboration with the performers., Recognizable quotations from existing works by other composers are inspiring building blocks for Beil because of the emotional charge or the references already attached to them. It is those connotations that the composer uses as material – a new meaning that can fade or appear subsequently by incorporating the quotations in new musical contexts., Those compositions, which were in line with the usual conventions of their genres, at the same time sharpened his interest in the visual dimensions of concert performance. In this sense, they helped create the ground for Beil's later artistic work, which focuses on the interaction between sound and image., etc. Some parts are also blatant advertising (e.g.: Beil makes his own scores, MAX patches and tapes available simply and free of charge through his website.). Wikipedia does not care about what the subject says about themself (ex: through their own website). The majority of the references I spot-checked do not verify the information provided either. Original research does not belong on Wikipedia. You should only summarize what reliable, secondary sources have said him.
Those were the blatant fails I declined your draft for. I also don't see how the subject meets either the notability guideline for musicians or the general notability guideline for people, which is something you'll have to prove in order for your draft to be accepted. Article Review/Edit Request

Hi @CFA: I am a COI editor connected to the long-term biobank study UK Biobank and I have suggested some improvements to the article. My ideas include changing the layout, updating the page with recent discoveries and missing information, and removing any information which is irrelevant.

I have created both a draft of how I think the article should look in my sandbox, and a section by section explanation of each change as a request on the UK Biobank talk page. When you have the time, would it be possible to please receive your advice on the article in my sandbox, and maybe implement some of the changes which you feel are appropriate on the current existing page?

Thank you! Burchrusks (talk) 12:47, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@TOBI$WURLD: You can submit a biography for inclusion using the Article Wizard. Please see Wikipedia's policy on autobiographies and make sure to disclose your conflict of interest first. Two responses: (1) Eisenberg meets the notability criteria #5 at WP:NACADEMIC: she holds a named chair at a major institution. (2) What does this mean: "please remove external links from the article body"? Thank you!

@Bodhipup: You are free to resubmit if you disagree with my assessment of notability. Her position is not exactly clear in the article. Wikipedia articles should only have external links in the "References" and "External links" sections. They do not belong in the body of the article, where wikilinks should be used instead. Thank you very much for marking the article as reviewed, I will work on the article based on your feedback. However, is it possible for you to change back the article name to 'List of BL dramas' instead of 'List of yaoi dramas'? As pointed out in Yaoi article, 'Yaoi' is more closely associated with Japanese gay animes and mangas, whereas 'BL' and 'Boys' love' is the common term for the television dramas and films featuring gay romance throughout Asia, especially outside Japan, as BL dramas also mainly come from Thailand, South Korea, and Taiwan. If the abbreviation 'BL' is considered too vague, I believe 'List of boys' love dramas' would be more acceptable. Please consider it. Best, — ‎‎‎hhypeboyh 💬✏️ 04:12, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@HypeBoy: I've moved it to List of boys' love dramas. I originally moved it because I noticed that an RfD had previously determined that "BL" was too ambiguous as a title. Happy editing, C F A 💬 04:19, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CFA: Thank you so much. Lastly, can you please also mark the redirect page List of BL dramas as reviewed? I noticed that the main article didn't show up when I search 'List of BL dramas' on search engines. Many apologies for the trouble. — ‎‎‎hhypeboyh 💬✏️ 05:04, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also have a question. Why was the warning reverted? I understand why somebody could put it there, but I want to know why it was reverted.
Skyhawk412 (talk) 01:51, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Raayaan9911: They did not "introduce incorrect information into articles" and their edits were certainly constructive. They copy-edited the lead which previously read "born on 17 January 1992 in west Africa,Ghana." to "Gregory Mallard is a Ghanaian-British actor." Please don't leave warnings if you don't know what you're doing. It is disruptive and can be perceived as biting the newcomers. Thank you. C F A 💬 02:04, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CFA,

What happened here? Why are you moving valid redirects to your User space where they are tagged for deletion? This is not how things are done. If you want to move a draft or article to a page that has a redirect, then go to the page with the redirect, using Twinkle, tag it CSD>G6 Move and in the field, put the name of the draft or article that you want moved and an admin will take care of it.

The way you handled it causes us to lose all of the page history that comes from the original redirect and it ends up on a deleted page in your User space which is kind of ridiculous. If you are going to do page moves, you really have no reason to use your own User space. Let's work on keeping all of the page history with a particular page title together, whether it's the current page history or the deleted page history. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:59, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same goes with User:CFA/moves/Haydon Mustard. Liz Read! Talk! 05:02, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz: Is that not what {{db-moved}} is for? I used to always tag redirects for {{db-afc-move}} and wait for an admin but sometimes I'd forget to come back and accept the draft. I didn't realize {{db-moved}} existed until I saw WT:AFC#User:Robert McClenon/Nassau County Bridge Authority on WT:AFC. C F A 💬 14:09, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is another reason to hate the round-robin move system, but so long as things are the way they are, wouldn't it be more in-line with usual page-moving practice to use subpage under Draft:Move/ instead? --Paul_012 (talk) 10:15, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but I'm not actually doing a round-robin swap here. I could, and nothing would even have to be deleted, but the WP:AFCH script doesn't support them (so I'd have to do a bunch of steps manually after the move). This is just a hack to avoid waiting for an admin to complete the G6, by moving it out of the way without leaving a redirect then deleting it later. I figured this wouldn't be an issue because {{db-moved}} seems to exist for this purpose, but I'll just go back to G6 tagging since someone objected. C F A 💬 14:49, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question about article class

Hi. I got a message from you saying my intersex healthcare article was rated B-class, but the talk page of the article says it's C-class. Which class is it? I'd just like to know so I can better figure out if and how I should improve my article. Thanks :)

P.S. Just to be clear, I'm not asking for a re-review or anything like that. Urchincrawler (talk) 23:01, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Urchincrawler: It looks B-class to me, but I have no real experience determining article ratings. To a certain extent, it's completely subjective. You can see the B-class criteria on this page and request an independent assessment here, if you're interested. Rater says it is B-class so I'll just go with that, but in the end ratings don't really matter unless the article is a stub that needs to be categorized or has gone through the Good Article or Featured Article review process. Happy editing, C F A 💬 00:12, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Royiswariii (11:36, 21 August 2024)

Hi! I'm planning to add a Personnel section to the Cherry on Top (Bini song) article. Is it necessary to include everyone involved in the production and all the team members who contributed to the song and music video? Quite a few people were involved in this project.

Edit: There's 4 teams in personel section. --Royiswariii (talk) 11:36, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Royiswariii: Hi, no, probably not. Information generally doesn't have to be included just because it's true. If all the person has received is a trivial mention in the song credits, then there's probably no reason to include their name in the article. Wikipedia, for the most part, is based on what secondary sources say, and due weight should be given proportional to the amount of coverage they have received. It's ultimately up to your discretion, but I would avoid including names unless their roles have been at least partially detailed in reliable, secondary sources. @SheriffIsInTown: Because undiscussed moves are eligible to be reverted by anyone, no matter who moved it originally. In this case, the requester wanted to revert to the stable title after two undiscussed moves (one of which was by a sock). You can open a requested move discussion if you want to propose another title, as your bold move was contested by someone else and now has to be discussed. Appealing draft you looked at!

Hello! I was hoping to discuss a draft you looked at recently that I'm working on. I believe strongly that Danial fits the notable criteria listed for chess players, specifically point 3 stating, "Has won a national or continental championship or women's championship." as he's won all 3 major scholastic national tournaments and the North American U-20 Championship.

The current reason for submission decline is around significant coverage. Below I've linked 4 concrete sources from 2 established newspapers that cover Danial. While I understand they come from newspapers in Santa Monica, I'd like to postulate that they fit within reliable, secondary sources, and are reasonable given there isn't a great deal of chess coverage in the major papers.

1. https://smdp.com/2021/01/09/samohi-alumnus-goes-for-grandmaster/

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thank you! BenJohnson7 (talk) 03:24, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BenJohnson7: Hi, I'm not sure why you're asking me because when I declined your draft, there were only two database entries as sources (which are neither significant coverage nor independent). There have been two declines by other reviewers since. Regardless, WP:NCHESS is an essay, not a real notability guideline. It is simply stating what is likely to result in enough coverage to meet the basic notability guidelines for people. Your first three sources are all by the same local newspaper. Source 4 is another local, somewhat routine piece that isn't particularly useful for establishing notability. These articles do help, but aren't enough on their own. There should be at least some coverage outside of hyper-local newspapers where coverage is expected. Also, how do you know the subject? Your only edits are about the subject which often indicates you have some sort of conflict of interest. C F A 💬 03:47, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning, was hoping you could reconsider the Samuel Miele draft that you recently rejected.

The subject person has substantial global coverage at hand with extreme public interest, and more details of his background, as well as ventures, have been released in multiple reputable articles and sources. In other words, not just one event has defined the subject at hand. His page is not yet complete, but I believe it would be beneficial to the Wikipedia community to go forward with submission.
