Mustapha Khalid Palash (born 11 September 1963)[1] is a Bangladeshi architect, artist, singer[2] and painter.[3] Palash is proficient in several instruments.[2]

Early life and education

Palash was born to artist Afroz Mustapha (d. 2018).[4] Palash has been involved with art since childhood, growing up surrounded by it as the son of a painter.[5] He received his bachelor of architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1988.[6] After his graduation, he taught at Bangladesh University as an assistant professor until 1998. He then worked as a visiting faculty of architecture at the University of Asia Pacific, North South University,[7] and BRAC University.[8]

Career

After graduating from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, he joined forces with fellow graduates Mohammed Foyez Ulla and Shahzia Islam to establish Vistaara Architects.[9]

Palash has participated in various architectural exhibitions, seminars, and workshops in Bangladesh and internationally. He has also participated in architectural consultancy projects and events, including Architecture Week.[10][11][12][13][14][15]

Palash is a member of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, international associate member of AIA and a member of Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). He is also a member of the World Architecture Community. Palash was the elected president of Architecture Alumni Association of BUET (7th Executive Committee 2013 & 2014).[16]

Palash is currently the editor of the quarterly DOT: Journal on Art & Architecture.[17]

In addition to being an architect, Palash is also a painter. His solo painting exhibition titled Of Conflict and Harmony was held in 2009 at Gallery of Fine Arts of Asiatic Society, Dhaka.[18][19] In June 2011 he had his third solo exhibition of Doodle Art titled Of Tears and Joyat Dhaka Art Centre.[20]
