Delshire is a census-designated place (CDP) in Delhi Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,158 at the 2020 census.

Geography

Delshire is located on a bluff north of the Ohio River. It lies 6 miles (10 km) west of downtown Cincinnati and just east of the community of Delhi Hills.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.69 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2020, there were 3,158 people living in the CDP, for a population density of 4,530.85 people per square mile (1,748.36/km2). There were 1,149 housing units. The racial makeup of the CDP was 82.0% White, 9.4% Black or African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.9% Asian, 0.0% Pacific Islander, 1.0% from some other race, and 5.6% from two or more races. 2.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.[4]

There were 1,224 households, out of which 39.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.8% were married couples living together, 23.0% had a male householder with no spouse present, and 20.5% had a female householder with no spouse present. 14.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.2% were someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80, and the average family size was 3.18.[4]

27.1% of the CDP's population were under the age of 18, 59.9% were 18 to 64, and 13.0% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33.5. For every 100 females, there were 106.5 males.[4]

According to the U.S. Census American Community Survey, for the period 2016-2020 the estimated median annual income for a household in the CDP was $76,250, and the median income for a family was $59,602. About 21.6% of the population were living below the poverty line, including 36.2% of those under age 18 and 0.0% of those age 65 or over. About 66.0% of the population were employed, and 31.4% had a bachelor's degree or higher.[4]

Education

Delshire is home to Delshire Elementary School, which is a part of the Oak Hills Local School District. Delshire is also home to St. Dominic Catholic School.
