The 65 Project
The 65 Project is an American dark money[1][2] campaign to “disbar and discredit”[3] attorneys who “worked on Donald Trump’s post-election lawsuits.”[4][1] The group is advised by David Brock, the founder of opposition research groups Media Matters for America and American Bridge 21st Century, to "not only bring the grievances in the bar complaints, but shame them and make them toxic in their communities and in their firms."[1][5] In a 2022 interview with Axios, Brock emphasized “threatening the livelihoods”[2] of the attorneys.
Methods
In line with the group’s mission, the 65 project files ethics complaints with bar associations, some of which have been dismissed for lack of evidence.[2] It has also filed complaints naming high-profile cases, such as with John Eastman and Cleta Mitchell.[2]
