Call for Participation: ECCV 2024 Doctoral Consortium

Mentor / Mentee Pairings

For Mentor / Mentee assignmens see the Doctoral Consortium Event.

Overview

The Doctoral Consortium (DC) offers a unique opportunity for students nearing the completion of their doctorate or those who have recently graduated, to engage with experienced researchers in computer vision. Each student will be paired with a senior community member who will act as their mentor, chosen based on the student's preferences or research interests. All students and mentors will attend an in-person DC event during the conference, where students can discuss their ongoing research and career plans with their mentors. Additionally, each student will present a poster, showcasing either their thesis research or a recent paper, to fellow participants and mentors.

Eligibility

Students must be conducting research in computer vision and be within 6 months (before or after) of graduating with their doctoral degree, taking into account the conference dates.

Submission Guidelines

Students who meet the eligibility requirements should submit an application via CMT.

The application must include the following, compiled into a single PDF file:

  1. The applicant's CV.
  2. A two-page research statement summarizing the applicant's research and progress to date.
  3. The title and author list of the poster that will be presented at the consortium, which may or may not be presented at ECCV 2024 as well.
  4. A signed letter from their advisor confirming the actual / estimated date of graduation.
  5. The first and last names and email addresses of 7 potential mentors, ranked from most to least preferred. Identify researchers from industry or academia whose work is relevant to yours or whose feedback you think would be particularly useful to you for a different reason. Do not list your advisor as a mentor.

Please ensure that all pieces of information are included in the application as a single PDF file.

Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Review Process

If not all applications can be supported, selection will be based on the provided material and the student's graduation date, to support a diverse collection of students across institutions and research areas.

Travel Awards

We suggest that students consult the 'travel grant support' provided by the ECCV 2024 conference.

Poster Format

Please refer to the general ECCV 2024 guidelines, as the DC will follow the same format. We expect students to take responsibility for printing their own posters and bringing them to the DC session.  During the event, please use any available poster board in the designated DC room, as no poster numbers will be assigned.
