University of Nevada, Reno: A new IR home with DSpace Express

DSPACE NEWS & UPDATES

The University of Nevada, Reno, founded in 1874, is a public land-grant research university in Reno, Nevada that offers academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. UNR was maintaining its in-house DSpace (version 5.6) but decided to work with Atmire as its repository partner. This decision led to the migration and setup of ScholarWolf, the institutional repository for the University of Nevada, Reno on DSpace Express.

DSpace migration
The project involved migrating from UNR’s in-house DSpace 5.6 system to a DSpace Express on DSpace 7. This process included transferring all content, existing SOLR statistics, and previous configuration settings.

The outcome is a new and state-of-the-art DSpace Express that preserves all existing statistics while hosting 7,935 open-access items.

It was a great experience working with Nathan and the UNR team! Through careful planning and collaboration, we were able to create a great new repository, in the form of ScholarWolf. Atmire is proud to have helped create this fully modern and flexible platform which will undoubtedly serve UNR well for years to come.
