Editors’ Review
Facebook for iOS enables you to manage your Facebook account directly from your phone.
Pros
Well-organized UI: For an app with so many features, Facebook's interface is far from cluttered -- with feeds, videos, news, and events neatly displayed on separate tabs.
Keep up with your friends: After you sign in, Facebook for iOS pulls in all your Facebook data, turning your phone into a miniature Facebook feed. Follow posts, like comments, share updates, and more as you would on the desktop version.
Facebook Live: Live lets you share a live video stream with your followers and groups or share from events. During the live stream, view viewer comments and respond. Then, following the broadcast, the recorded stream will appear in your feed.
Marketplace: Discover items for sale in your area. Browse available offerings or search by category. Tap an item to see a description, view the general location of the seller, send a message, and make an offer. You can also sell items.
Groups and Pages: With just a few clicks, you can search, create, or manage groups and pages.
Workplace: Facebook's Workplace feature, with its "unlimited groups, messaging, calling, and storage" is built for professional teams to connect and collaborate. Create an account with your email address or username, verify it via email, and add coworkers by email. Then post messages, photos, and check-ins, or install Workplace Chat to reach coworkers instantly via message, phone, or video chat.
Privacy options: Facebook enables you to select your posting audience. Click the "To" field within your post to make your posts public, visible to friends only, invisible to certain people, or completely private. Under Privacy, which is on the Account Settings page, control who can find you on Facebook (even via Google search results), who can contact you, and who can see your posts past, present, and future.
Security features: Under Account Settings, there are several things you can do to make your account more secure. Click "Login Alerts" to turn on notifications, which will alert you if someone's logged in to your account from a new device or browser. Turn on Login Approvals, which enforces two-factor authentication with each log-in. You can also set Trusted Contacts to help you access your account if you're ever locked out, or you can designate a Legacy Contact, a friend or family member you trust to manage your account after you die.
Comprehensive Help Center: Ask a question in the search field up top, click top questions, or browse by topic, such as Login & Password, Editing Your Account, and Deleting Things.
Cons
No tagging strangers in posts or photos: You can't tag anyone that you're not officially friends with in a post or photo, using Facebook's mobile app. You can, however, do this using the desktop app.
Jumbled notifications: With all your notifications, including new likes and comments on your posts, friends' birthdays, and party invites all in one place, it's easy to miss things.
Bottom Line
Facebook for iOS is an essential app for heavy Facebook users on the go.
