“ | I'm not a idiot! I'm a intelligent person! Don't be disrespecting me! | ” |
–Dippy defending herself from Petey. |
Dippy is a recurring character first appearing in the third chapter of Dog Man, Book 'Em, Dog Man! to show the benefits of reading, which was made in the Captain Underpants series. This person was brain-dead after Petey stole all the books in the world. After Petey enters her donut store, Dippy's Donuts, she acts extremely stupidly, mistaking "donuts" for "bagels" repeatedly, resulting in Petey's storming out of the donut shop in anger with a bag of bagels.
She reappears in Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties, to adopt Li'l Petey from Petey selling it for free. Despite reading the sign "Free Kitty", she asked how much it costs, then Petey replied "a dollar!". After realizing she only has $10, Petey takes the dollars anyway. After her naming Li'l Petey 'Snowball', Li'l Petey replies, "I think I'll call you Poo-Poo Head." In disgust, she hands Li'l Petey back to Petey, and leaves furiously.
She reappears in Dog Man & Cat Kid, working at a shop called "Cannery Grow". She acts like she does back in Dog Man. She doesn't know how to sort the numbers from 1 to 10, driving Petey crazy for 22 whole minutes. Petey yells at her, causing her to cry. Petey feels sorry. However, after a few minutes, Petey is driven crazy again and yells at her, and steals one of her bottles of Cannery Grow anyway. She outrages at Petey for doing this, and she thinks about calling 911 but is too stupid to do so. She can't find 9, and after finding it, forgot the number after 9 and never called 911.
In Dog Man: Brawl of the Wild, She slams a danger sign over a hole just as the judge and the guard were climbing out, knocking them back in the hole, exclaiming, "I helped!" She is later seen in the burning theater, thinking it was a 3-D movie. Dog Jail inmates later saved her.
She makes a cameo appearance in these three books:
- In Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls, At the beginning of the first chapter, a photograph of her being rescued by a group of former Dog Jail inmates from the previous book can be seen on the news.
- In Dog Man: Mothering Heights, She can be seen playing the drums during Mecha Molly's rise.
- In Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under The Sea, A photograph of her can be seen on the news when the townspeople are throwing pies at each other.
- In Dog Man: The Scarlet Shedder, she attends the wedding and gets an A.I. buddy which driver her off a cliff while she takes a selfie.
- In Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, she appears in flashbacks.
Trivia[]
- Despite all the books being returned to all the people in the world at the end of George and Harold's "benefits of reading" book, she still seems to be idiotic, possibly because she never owned any books, was mentally scared from the lack of books, or was never very intelligent to begin with.
- This is the only minor character from Captain Underpants that reappeared in the Dog Man Series.
- Her name, Dippy means stupid, no-brainer, or foolish, which she is.
