Twitterpated is a deleted song from the 1942 Disney animated film, Bambi. It was composed by Frank Churchill, Helen Bliss, Robert Sour, and and Henry Manners. The latter three would also help composed another song that too would be deleted from the film, "Thumpity Thump", which would've been meant for Thumper.
Background[]
It was originally going to be heard during the spring scene and sung by Bambi, but was deleted in the final version, because it was decided that the main forest animal characters shouldn't have their own musical number. Despite being deleted, the song was included in the Blu-ray discs of the 2011 and 2017 home release editions of Bambi.
Lyrics[]
There's a word that can't be found in the dictionary
Though it's quite well-known to the finch and the chickadee
I learned it from an owl
A philosophical fowl
Who winked one eye
As he confided in me
If you can't do without
Someone to dream about
There isn't any doubt
You're twitterpated
If you like big blue eyes
And cute, young sweetie pies
These symptoms indicate
You're twitterindipate
If your heart keeps pulling sly tricks
Then, my friend, you're sure in a fix
If you keep looking for
Somebody to adore
You'll find forevermore
You're twitterpated
Trivia[]
- The first lines of the song are later contradicted when the word "twitterpated" was added to certain modern dictionaries such as the Oxford English Dictionary. With that word being added, "twitterpated" is a colloquial term to refer to someone who has a nervous excitement.
- The song has no connection with the other song with a similar name performed by the late Betty Driver, as this song had different lyrics as this song is about everyone in love.
