Awesome job on the title cards, Scarecroe! -- Route 55

Thanks! Just a note here about the file names of the title cards: those ending with "-redux" are the redone title cards used decades after their initial theatrical release. On the second Silly Symphonies set of Walt Disney Treasures on DVD, Leonard Maltin explains that these have been restored to their original appearance. However, some of the shorts included on the disc were mistakenly added using the redone title cards. The official Treasures website has a notice about this error, and they're offering an exchange program for the corrected discs as soon as they're available. When they are, those images suffixed with "-redux" should be replaced with the proper ones to maintain historical integrity. —Scott (talk) 20:28, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Ok, awesome. Do you have any for the other Silly Symphonyesque cartoons here? -- Route 55 15:38, May 14, 2007
Yeah, I've got a good portion of them. I'm concerned about their inclusion as "Silly Symphonies" though. From my understanding, they're Silly Symphony-esque because fans decided so -- they don't carry the Silly Symphonies banner. I wonder if there's a better way that their use here can be worded so that these points are made clear. —Scott (talk) 20:46, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
What ho, yon Scott! I'd personally take all the "Non-Canonical Silly Symphonies" out (what an awkward header that is). They're one-shot shorts or featurettes, and have no connection with Silly Stmphonies whatsoever. Jeff Lenburg, in his oft dubious tomes on animation, uses the term "Walt Disney Specials" to describe them. The more reliable Leonard Maltin just calls them shorts. But absolutely nobody at all, as far as film or Disney or animation historians go, would ever lump such a diverse group in as "Silly Symphonies" (they're not even the same lengths, since two-reelers like Ben and Me and The Small One are lumped in, and Symposium on Popular Songs is a Ludwig Von Drake showcase). I'd create a new page, "Non-Series Shorts" or something (clunky title), since none of them have anything to do with Silly Symphonies, and most don't even have much to do with each other. We might as well lump in the Winnie the Pooh featurettes while we're at it. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 01:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
