Saturdays is a coming-of-age comedy series that aired on Disney Channel from March 24, 2023 to May 12, 2023.[1][2] The show is created and executive produced by Norman Vance Jr., with Marsai Martin also serving as an executive producer.

Synopsis[]

The series revolves around 14-year-old Paris Johnson and her best friends Simone and Ari, who hone their roller-skating skills on the cool parquet floor of "Saturdays Rockin' Roller Palace", a local skating rink in Chicago. Together, they form the We-B-Girlz skate crew and are determined to show and prove they have the hottest skate routines on the planet![3]

Production[]

On March 11, 2021, Disney Channel gave a pilot order to Saturdays.[4] On November 30, 2021, the series was formally greenlit.[5] Production began on May 2, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois and wrapped on September 14, 2022.[6][7] On February 9, 2023, it was announced that the series would premiere on March 24, 2023.[8] On November 7, 2023, the series was cancelled after one season.[9]

Trivia[]

  • Samantha A. Smith played a character named "Roxy" in the original pilot. When it got picked up to series, she was no longer apart of the cast.[10]
    • However, she returned to guest star in the episode "The Return of Roxie" and then became a recurring character in the last two episodes.
  • The series premiered right after the Season 3 premiere of Secrets of Sulphur Springs.
  • The series was added to Disney+ on March 25, 2023, just one day after the cable premiere. The first batch included the first 6 episodes.[11]
  • The series was removed from Disney+ on September 27, 2024.
  • This is officially a part of the That's So Raven universe as its been confirmed by Disney Channel.
