Karolina Dean is a Marvel Comics character that appears in the Hulu series Runaways, played by Virginia Gardner. She is a member of an alien race called the Majesdanians who was raised on Earth. When she finds out that her parents came to Earth in order to conquer it, she joins the team of superhero fugitives known as the Runaways. Karolina has the ability to shoot beams of energy, and the ability to fly. She is generous, optimistic, gentle, and kind.
Karolina Dean was created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.

Powers and abilities
- Light Manipulation: Karolina's physiology has endowed her with the ability to naturally harness all forms of light energy and to utilize in battle. She has the ability to bend light, using it to weaponize light itself to generate blasts of light energy.
- Light Projection: Karolina is able to project bursts of energy from her hands as a form of ranged combat.
- Bioluminescence: Karolina is able to use her light eneegy powers to surround herself with glowing energy.
- Photokinesis: Karolina is able to bend and manipulate light generated from other sources such as electricity; but the full extent of this power is unknown. She can partially control light and light-based substances.
- Force Field: Karolina is able to create light-based force fields to protect herself and others.
- Flight: Karolina is able to levitate through the air while in her glowing form.
- Longevity: According to her father, Karolina can live for thousands of years.

Karolina's uses a power dampening bracelet, but her fear off removing it comes from her mother's religious-like background. She is mocked at school by her peers who view her as being brainwashed by her religion called the Church of Gibborim, founded by her grandfather and a benefactor named Jonah.
Throughout the course of the first season, she slowly learns more about her true form and her newfound powers. She later kisses Nico, revealing her feelings, and the two then begin a relationship. In season two, Karolina learns of her heritage and embraces her dual identity of human and alien. She is half-human and half-Gibborim, from a family of exiled Royal Magistrates from the space.
