Overview
It consists of Hainan Island and its attached islands located south of the Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong, China. The Xisha, Nansha, and Zhongsha Islands in the South China Sea, over which China has territorial claims, also belong to this province.
Widely known for its seascape, it is a popular tourist destination. The famous Chinese artist group and doujin circle "Gege Circle" also hails from Lingshui, Hainan.
The northern part of Hainan Island is subtropical, while the southern part is tropical, and tropical crops such as banana, coconut, and pepper are widely cultivated. The coast around Sanya, which belongs to the tropical zone, has a climate suitable for year-round swimming and is commonly referred to as the "Hawaii of China" and tourism centered on beach resorts is thriving.
