Los Chingones Still Plans a Fall Debut in Lakewood

Troy Guard’s Los Chingones once hoped to ready by late spring at the Colorado Mills mall. Now the Mexican restaurant updates fans on Instagram with “don’t worry Lakewood, we haven’t forgotten about you!”

Located on the eastern side of the property, next to Yard House, the 6,500-square-foot space is now promising a fall debut. Simon Property Group, which owns the mall, predicts the “sassy, spicy, sometimes irreverent” eatery “is expected to open as of 10/15/2018.”

Los Chingones replaces a former California Pizza Kitchen and features an outdoor patio. Diners enter the restaurant from the exterior, or inside the mall, across from Racca’s Pizzeria Napoletana, currently aiming for an Aug. 31 return following an extensive remodel. Racca’s was one of the many victims of the May 8, 2017, hailstorm that severely damaged the complex.

A rousing success in RiNo, DTC, and Stapleton, Guard’s Tag Restaurant Group originally announced the Los Chingones expansion would be the brand’s largest destination yet. Other enticing plans include the addition of an Airstream trailer parked on the patio to house the outdoor bar.
