It’s no secret that brunch is a treasured meal in D.C. Despite soaring egg prices, many restaurants continue to offer egg-cellent weekend meals that don’t break the bank. For this latest brunch map refresh, fresh options around town include Sfoglina Van Ness, Abebech Café & Market, Del Mar, Rosedale, and Mad Hatter.

Abebech Café & Market

Abebech Café & Market (formerly Gueny’s Café & Market) debuted in Petworth in March with a buffet-styled Sunday brunch served from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ethiopian-born owner Emebet Nigatu showcases staples like beef tibs alongside dishes his mother learned to cook in Italy. Think lasagna, spaghetti Bolognese, meatballs, and minestrone soup. Breakfast like fresh-squeezed juice and avocado toast is also served daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Restauranteur Ashok Bajaj’s rotisserie-fueled newcomer in Van Ness debuted weekend brunch in March (11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). Highlights include a croque-madame, shrimp and grits; smash burger with American cheese; egg Norwegian with smoked salmon, egg, cream, and puff pastry; ham and cheese pizza with provolone and mozzarella; and fried green tomato-topped biscuits. Enjoy bottomless Bellinis (peach or cherry), mimosas, or sparkling wine for $18 per person (90-minute limit).

Sfoglina Van Ness also offers a 90-minute bottomless beverage menu, including “Roman Marys,” Bellinis, and mocktails.

Columbia Heights’ charming new Indian eatery added brunch service a few months ago, complete with a three-course spread for $37 and a bottomless cocktail option for $17 more. Brunch bites include Indian street foods like paneer sliders (scrambled cottage cheese on a buttered roll), pani puri shots, and creamy pistachio ice cream served in a waffle cone. Try the chaat margarita with tequila, agave, lime, triple sec, gooseberry, and chaat masala.

The famous za’atar croissants and fragrant coffees from 2024 James Beard Award winner Michael Rafidi reached yet another quadrant of the District. Beyond the inventive Arabic ingredient-studded pastries and egg-based entrees served til 11 a.m., a massive grill is churning out pitas stuffed with an array of kebabs, smoked lamb shoulder, falafel, and coal-fired cauliflower for the lunch rush through 3 p.m. If you have any room left, don’t miss the creamy labne and tahini oat soft serves.

Dupont’s sleek Greek hot spot tacked on brunch last spring and introduced a new bottomless option in late 2024. The midday weekend brunch (11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.) brings crab cake eggs Benedict, omelet, shakshouka, and baklava French toast to the table. Bottomless brunch ($45) includes mimosas, Bellinis, bloody Marys, or tableside espresso martini service with an array of flavors like pumpkin spice, salted caramel, orange cinnamon, and banana. Philadelphia’s hot dual dining destination, a.kitchen and a.bar, swung open in one space in the heart of Foggy Bottom in September. In November, the restaurant debuted weekend brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Specials include one of Philly’s best cheeseburgers, a crab and Boursin-filled omelet, crispy oyster mushrooms with sunchoke miso aioli, and plenty of local seafood like oysters, poached mussels, scallop crudo, and a little neck clams dish filled with leeks, lemon, and potatoes. Also go to check out its festive new Apres Ski pop-up on the patio, which runs now through March.

Dreamy, pink-filled River Club rolled out brunch in October, with a diverse menu of dishes combining Lebanese, Italian, and Spanish flavors. In March, the bar up front added walk-in service and a three-course brunch menu for $35 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) that includes a trio of mini cocktails for an extra $20, like a seasonal apricot Bellini. Other brunch standouts offered around the dining room include rosewater and za’atar croissants, papas bravas topped with eggs and shaved jamón ibérico, and big shared platters like the Lebanese breakfast that comes with everything to build your own ground lamb, falafel, and egg-filled pitas.

This Italian trattoria from New York City is now open for brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and serving up bottomless mimosas with orange, grapefruit, cranberry, and pineapple juices for $30 per person. Diners at the new brunch can also receive a complimentary Bellini or espresso martini to sip alongside zucchini and mint frittata, prosciutto and spinach omelet, ciabatta and focaccia paninis, pastas, and whole branzino.
