Ashburn Could Be the Latest Town to Get a Food Hall

A huge 66,000-square-foot warehouse currently rising in Ashburn could be the next industrial-style home for a food hall.

Lexington 7’s owners are looking to plant a full-service restaurant, brewery tasting room, or food hall inside a 10,000-square-foot chunk of the building being dedicated to food and drink. The massive retail and flex building is expected to deliver at the corner of Lexington Drive and Leesburg Pike in late 2019.

“We are in talks with interesting restaurants, breweries, and food halls. A food hall would be very exciting,” says Long & Foster broker Erik Ulsaker, who’s working on the hospitality deal.

Going the food hall route would make Leesburg the latest city to pounce on the multi-vendor dining setup. This week Washington Business Journal reported that developer Neighborhood Development Co. is hoping to open a 11,200-square-foot food hall called Benning Market east of the Anacostia River this fall.

Meanwhile, Rockville’s Asian food hall The Spot opened this summer and another, dubbed Pike Kitchen, is landing soon nearby on Rockville Pike. In Virginia, Annandale’s got The Block and D.C. has Tastemakers in Brookland.

Long & Foster is also in talks with a food hall-brewery hybrid, he adds. A concept image idea being floated to potential restaurant tenants is of downtown LA’s cool and cavernous Italian destination, Rossoblu. Lexington 7 will rise 35 feet and be capped off by clear ceilings.

Lexington 7 sits near One Loudoun and is part of a site plan that’ll also feature a shopping center being built by Monument Realty.
